Best One Pot Cheese and Macaroni image

This recipe uses less milk and no thickener what-so-ever! Very cheesy, too! You can either serve it from the pot, or top with buttered crumbs and put in 350 oven to brown for half an hour, but we like ours fine without.

3 cups water
½ teaspoon salt
8 ounces seashell pasta
1 cup whole milk
4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Steps:

  • Pour water and salt into a medium pot and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water is boiling, stir in the shell pasta, and return to a boil. Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the water has cooked down a bit, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the milk, and continue boiling for another 5 minutes. Add the Cheddar, Parmesan, pepper, and mustard; stir until the cheese melts and the sauce is thick and creamy. The starch from the pasta thickens the sauce as the pasta cooks.

Forget that stuff in the box,THIS is the cheesiest! And all in one pot!The starch in the pasta acts as the thickener,so no more flour. No more separate pots for pasta and sauce to clean!

8 oz shell pasta or pasta of your choice
3 c water
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp dijon mustard
1 c whole milk
3-4 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 c grated parmigiana cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. 1. Boil 3 cups of water and add your pasta. Cook until about half the water remains. Then add milk, salt, pepper,and Dijon mustard. Lower your heat to medium so you don't scald the milk and make it curdle and cook until reduced down a bit, stirring occasionally.
  • 2. 2. Add your cheeses and cook until thickened about a couple of minutes, stirring constantly to keep the cheese from sticking.
  • 3. 3. At this point, you can add buttered breadcrumbs on top and put into the oven or serve hot the way it is.
