The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford Dessert is full of layers of creamy, chocolaty goodness on top of a pecan shortbread crust. This throwback to the 70's dessert is a fun choice for parties and potlucks.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 13- x 9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, melted butter, and chopped nuts until well combined and crumbly. Press into the prepared baking dish and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until lightly golden brown around edges. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.
- In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Fold in 1 container of Cool Whip and stir to combine well. Spread over cooled crust.
- In a clean bowl, whisk both the vanilla and chocolate pudding mix with 3 cups cold milk. Whisk together until smooth and thickened and spread over cream cheese layer. Spread remaining container of Cool Whip over the top.
- Cover dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least two hours or overnight. Garnish with the grated chocolate and additional finely chopped nuts, if desired, before serving.

ROBERT REDFORD DESSERT (EASY RECIPE)

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Generously grease a 9-x13-inch baking pan with butter.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy, about 1 minute.
- Reduce the mixer speed to low, gradually add the flour, and beat just until combined. Stir in the pecans.
- Press the mixture into the greased baking pan to form a crust. Bake for 15 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar at medium speed until smooth. Gently mix in half of the whipped topping.

- Stir the chocolate syrup and 5-spice powder together and set aside.
- In a deep fryer or large heavy saute pan with deep sides, heat the oil to 375 degrees F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, and baking powder. Add the seltzer water in a stream while whisking constantly. Dip the bananas in the batter to coat and fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and sift the powdered sugar over the top immediately.
- Place 2 banana pieces on a serving plate and drizzle chocolate sauce over. Top with a drizzle of honey.
- Top with a spoonful of creme fraiche. Grate chocolate over top. Garnish with a small sprig of mint.
