1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1 teaspoon onion powder

Steps:

  • Separate crescent dough into eight triangles. Set aside 1 tablespoon of bacon. Sprinkle onion powder and remaining bacon over triangles; roll up and place point side down on an ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle with reserved bacon. , Bake at 375° until golden brown, 10-15 minutes. Serve warm. Freeze option: Freeze cooled rolls in sealable freezer containers. To use, thaw at room temperature or, if desired, microwave each roll on high until heated through, 10-15 seconds.

2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon 2% milk

10 bacon strips, diced
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 package (16 ounces) hot roll mix
1 egg, lightly beaten

Steps:

  • In a skillet, cook bacon and onion over medium heat until bacon is crisp and onion is tender; drain on paper towels., Prepare roll mix according to package directions. Turn the dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 40 minutes., Divide dough into 18 pieces. On a floured surface, roll out each piece into a 5-in. circle. 2 strips bacon
1 small onion, chopped
3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1/3 cup powdered milk
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 stick (8 tablespoons) cold butter, cut into bits, plus 4 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  • In a small skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels until cool, then chop into small pieces. Add the onion to the skillet with the bacon grease and cook over medium-low heat until light golden, about 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  • Stir together the flour, powdered milk, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt in a medium bowl. Using a pastry cutter, cut the chilled butter bits and shortening into the dry mixture until blended thoroughly. Stir in the bacon and onion. Fold in the buttermilk until the dough comes together.
  • On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and use your hands to press into a circle 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut out circles with a biscuit cutter or a glass. Place the biscuits in cast-iron skillets, then brush the tops with the melted butter. Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
