Asian Enough Grilled Chicken Wings Recipe - Genius Kitchen image

This recipe's a winner - it's got enough flavour for the more adventurous in the crowd and yet it's not spicy at all. It is a sweet and oh so tasty recipe. I did NOT include the overnight marinating time. Enjoy!

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 lbs chicken wings
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup gin
2 tablespoons garlic cloves, mashed
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 cup oyster sauce
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce

Steps:

  • Mix up the marinade ingredients. Toss in the chicken wings, stir and then let marinate overnight. It's a good idea to reserve some of the marinade (before adding the chicken) and keep it for basting your wings as they come off the grill.
  • Preheat grill to medium heat.
  • Place your wings on the grill. Remember, there's lots of honey and sugar in this recipe. So, don't let the heat get too high and keep the wings turning.
  • After about 15 to 20 minutes your wings should be cooked through, depending on your grill. Remove from grill.
  • Baste the wings with your reserved marinade and enjoy.

Grilled chicken is one of the most popular dishes across the world. It is not only easy to prepare but also delicious and healthy. However, just throwing a chicken on a grill does not guarantee a tasty result. To bring out the best flavor, you need to marinate the chicken with the right ingredients and follow some tips. In this article, we will be discussing some valuable tips to make an Asian grilled chicken recipe that will be a hit among your family and friends. Tip 1: Choose the Right Cut of Chicken The first step to making a delicious grilled chicken is to choose the right cut of chicken. The most common cuts used for grilling are chicken breasts, thighs, and wings. If you are looking for a leaner option, go for chicken breasts, but if you want more succulent and flavorful meat, then chicken thighs would be a better choice. Tip 2: Marinate the Chicken Marinating is the process of soaking the chicken in a seasoned liquid for a certain period to enhance its flavor and tenderness. When it comes to Asian grilled chicken, marinating plays a vital role in bringing out the authentic flavors. To make the perfect marinade, mix together soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and other preferred seasonings. Ensure that the chicken is fully submerged in the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes minimum or overnight for the flavors to infuse. Tip 3: Preheat the Grill One of the most crucial aspects of grilling chicken is to preheat the grill properly. A heated grill ensures that the chicken cooks evenly and prevents it from sticking to the grill grates. To achieve the optimal grilling temperature, preheat the grill to medium-high heat for at least 10-15 minutes. Make sure to brush the grill grates with oil to keep the chicken from sticking. Tip 4: Use Direct and Indirect Heat The chicken needs to be cooked evenly to ensure that it is not undercooked on the inside and charred on the outside. To achieve this, use direct and indirect heat when grilling. Direct heat is when the flame is directly beneath the chicken, which is suitable for the initial searing and browning. Indirect heat, on the other hand, is when the chicken is moved to the side of the grill where there is no flame, allowing it to cook slowly and evenly without burning. Tip 5: Grill with the Lid Closed To ensure the chicken is cooked through to the center, it is important to grill it with the lid closed. By closing the lid, you lock in the heat, and the chicken will cook evenly all around instead of just cooking on one side only. It is important to keep an eye on the chicken while grilling and to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Tip 6: Rest the Chicken After the chicken is grilled, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Resting allows the juices in the meat to redistribute and remain inside the chicken, making it moist and juicy. Cutting into the chicken immediately after it is grilled will cause the juices from the meat to run out, leaving you with a dry and flavorless chicken. Conclusion Grilling chicken is an art that requires patience, skill, and attention to detail. By following these tips, you will be able to make a mouth-watering Asian grilled chicken recipe that will leave your family and friends craving for more. Remember to choose the right cut of chicken, marinate it properly, preheat the grill, use direct and indirect heat, grill with the lid closed, and rest the chicken to achieve the perfect grilled chicken. Happy grilling!
