Time 21m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 20

2 atlantic salmon fillets
50 g rocket
100 g bean sprouts
1/2 red onion, finely sliced
2 spring onions, finely sliced
50 g sugar snap peas
sesame seeds
1 garlic clove
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 sprig fresh rosemary, finely chopped
1/2 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon coarse grain mustard
1/2 lime, juice of
1 shallot, finely chopped
3 tablespoons lime-infused oil (if you don't have lime infused oil, olive oil with lime zest works well)
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon freshly ground ginger
1/2 garlic clove, crushed
1/2 tablespoon honey
1/2 lime, juice of

Steps:

  • Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl and stir well.
  • Place salmon fillets in a shallow dish and cover with marinade.
  • Rub the marinade gently on to the salmon and allow to rest while preparing the salad (5-10 minutes is more than enough time for the flavours to infuse).
  • Combine salad ingredients (except sesame seeds) in a large bowl and then place on to the serving plates.
  • Combine all ingredients for the dressing. Sesame oil can be quite powerful so if the taste is too strong, counter with more honey and lime juice.
  • Drizzle dressing onto the salad and then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Place salmon fillets top-side down in a hot non-stick pan. Reduce to a medium heat and cook each side for 3-4 minutes depending on the thickness, turning only once. Salmon is best served rare to medium-rare.
  • Place Atlantic Salmon with side salad and serve.

Salmon is a versatile fish that is widely enjoyed across the world. When combined with Asian flavors, it creates a mouthwatering dish that is both healthy and delicious. Asian glazed salmon with oriental salad is a popular recipe that is easy to make and perfect for any occasion. In this article, we will explore valuable tips that will help you create a perfect Asian glazed salmon with oriental salad recipes.

Choosing the Right Salmon

The quality of salmon you choose will determine the outcome of your dish. When buying salmon, make sure to look for wild-caught or sustainably farmed salmon. It is also essential to pay attention to the color of the fish. Wild-caught salmon is usually a darker red color compared to farmed salmon, which can be light pink. Darker colored salmon has a more robust and meatier flavor, making it perfect for grilling or pan-searing.
Preparation
Once you have bought your salmon, it is essential to prepare it correctly to ensure it cooks evenly and remains moist. First, make sure you remove all the pin bones from the fish before cooking. You can do this by gently running your hand over the flesh of the fish to locate the bones and remove them with a pair of tweezers. Second, you should rinse the salmon with cold water and pat dry with a paper towel to remove any moisture. This helps to ensure that the salmon will cook evenly, and the skin will become crispy.
Marinade
The marinade is a crucial component of the Asian glazed salmon. When making the marinade, it is best to use fresh ingredients as this will enhance the flavor. You can use a combination of soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, chili, and sesame oil to create a delicious marinade. To marinate your salmon, you can pour the marinade over the fish and then refrigerate for at least an hour, or up to 24 hours if you want a more intense flavor. When cooking the salmon, make sure you use the remaining marinade to baste the fish and create a sticky glaze.

Cooking your Salmon

Cooking your salmon can be done in various ways, including grilling, baking, broiling, or pan-searing. However, regardless of the cooking method you choose, it is essential to make sure the salmon is cooked through but still moist and tender. If you are grilling or pan-searing your salmon, make sure the skin side is down first as this helps to create a crispy crust. For baking or broiling, it is best to wrap the salmon in parchment paper to prevent it from drying out.
Salad Preparation
Asian glazed salmon is often served with an oriental salad that complements the flavors of the salmon. Preparing an oriental salad is quick and easy, and there are many recipes to choose from. You can use a combination of fresh vegetables like cabbage, carrots, peppers, and cucumber to create a colorful and crunchy salad. To dress the salad, you can use a light vinaigrette or a creamy dressing like sesame dressing or peanut sauce. The dressing you use should complement the flavors of the salmon and not overpower it.

Presentation

Once you have cooked your salmon and prepared your salad, it's time to plate your dish. When plating, make sure you arrange the salmon on top of the salad to enhance the presentation. You can garnish the dish with fresh herbs like cilantro, green onions, or sesame seeds to add flavor and texture.
Serving Suggestions
Asian glazed salmon with oriental salad is a complete meal that can be enjoyed on its own or with a side dish like rice or noodles. You can also pair it with a glass of white wine like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc to complement the flavors of the dish.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Asian glazed salmon with oriental salad is a delicious and healthy dish that is perfect for any occasion. With the right salmon, marinade, cooking methods, and presentation, you can create a mouthwatering dish that will impress your family and friends.
