Steps:
- Whisk the vinegar, honey, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, chili garlic sauce, garlic, and salt in a bowl until smooth. Pour half the marinade into a large plastic zipper bag; retain the other half of the sauce. Place the chicken thighs into the bag containing marinade, squeeze all the air out of the bag, and seal. Shake a few times to coat chicken; refrigerate for 1 hour, turning bag once or twice.
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- Pour the other half of the marinade into a saucepan over medium heat, bring to a boil, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring often, to thicken sauce. Remove the chicken from the bag; discard used marinade. Place chicken thighs into a 9x13-inch baking dish, and brush with 1/3 of the thickened marinade from the saucepan.
- Bake 30 minutes, basting one more time after 10 minutes; an instant-read thermometer inserted into a chicken thigh should read 165 degrees F (75 degrees C). Let stand for 5 or 10 minutes; meanwhile, bring remaining marinade back to a boil for 1 or 2 minutes, and serve chicken with marinade. Sprinkle with green onions.

Steps:
- Whisk honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and ginger in a small bowl.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Pat chicken dry and season with 1 tsp. salt. Cook cut side up (you want the smooth side with the most surface area to hit the pan first) until deeply golden brown, 8-10 minutes. Pour sauce over chicken and reduce heat to medium-low. Turn chicken and continue to cook, spooning sauce over occasionally, until sauce is syrupy and chicken is cooked through, 6-8 minutes more.
- Meanwhile, set a steamer basket in a large pot filled with about 1" salted water. Cover pot and bring water to a boil. Add broccoli, cover, and steam until just tender, 4-5 minutes. Season broccoli with remaining 1/2 tsp. salt.
- Transfer chicken to a platter. Spoon any remaining sauce over. Serve with rice and broccoli alongside. Top chicken with scallions, sesame seeds, and sesame oil (if using).

Steps:
- Position a rack in the upper third of the oven; preheat to 450 degrees F. Put the chicken on a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet; drizzle with 1 teaspoon sesame oil, sprinkle with the five-spice powder and toss. Arrange skin-side up; season with salt and pepper. Roast until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crisp, 25 minutes. Meanwhile, stir the hoisin sauce, brown sugar and remaining 1 teaspoon sesame oil in a small bowl. Grate 1 garlic clove into the sauce; set aside. Chop the remaining garlic. Trim the broccolini and slice lengthwise into long florets. Trim and scrub the carrots; halve or quarter lengthwise. Preheat the broiler. Brush half the hoisin sauce mixture on the chicken and broil until bubbling, 1 to 2 minutes. Brush with the remaining sauce and broil 1 to 2 more minutes. Heat the vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the broccolini, carrots and chopped garlic; season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, until the garlic is soft, 1 minute. Add 1/4 cup water, cover and cook until the vegetables are crisp-tender, about 4 minutes. Uncover and stir in the sesame seeds. Divide the chicken among plates; top with the scallion. Serve with the vegetables.
SKILLET CHICKEN THIGHS WITH BROCCOLI AND ORZO
A one-pan meal is always a good option for a weeknight. This one is nice and bright because of the white wine and lemon, and rich from the olive oil and butter. You can save on prep time by using precut fresh or even frozen broccoli florets to get dinner on the table even faster. For those who like crispy bits, keep the skillet on the stove for a little bit longer so that the orzo browns where it meets the pan, as it would in a paella or fideuà.

Steps:
- Season chicken thighs on both sides with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. In a large, heavy skillet (preferably cast-iron or stainless steel), heat olive oil over medium-high. Cook the chicken, skin-side down, until golden brown, about 7 minutes. Flip and cook until golden on the other side, about 5 minutes more. Transfer chicken to a plate and set aside.
- Decrease heat to medium, add butter and lemon slices, and cook until the lemons release their juices and start to brown, 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to the plate with the chicken.
- Add broccoli, orzo, thyme, garlic and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt to the skillet and stir to coat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is lightly toasted and the broccoli is bright green, about 5 minutes.
- Deglaze with the wine and cook until the liquid is mostly absorbed, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the broth and lemon slices to the skillet, then add the chicken thighs, skin-side up, along with any liquid from the plate. Cover the skillet and continue cooking until the orzo is tender, most of the liquid is absorbed, and the chicken is cooked through, 13 to 15 minutes.
- If you want to add a little texture and crunch to the dish, uncover and continue to cook until browned and crisp on the bottom, 3 to 5 minutes. Serve warm.

Ingredients
- 1 pound of chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 bunch of broccolini
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Thighs
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Rinse the chicken thighs in cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
Step 2: Make the Marinade
In another mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined. Pour the marinade over the chicken thighs and toss to coat evenly.
Step 3: Roast the Chicken Thighs
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer the chicken thighs to the prepared sheet, skin side up. Roast in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F.
Step 4: Cook the Broccolini
While the chicken is roasting, rinse the broccolini in cold water and trim off the woody ends. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the broccolini and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until tender-crisp.
Step 5: Serve
Once the chicken thighs are cooked through, remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving. Plate the broccolini and top with the roasted chicken thighs. Enjoy!
Tips and Variations
- If you don't have broccolini, you can use regular broccoli or even other vegetables like asparagus or green beans.
- You can also add other Asian-inspired flavors to the marinade, such as hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, or sriracha.
- If you prefer boneless and skinless chicken thighs, you can still use this recipe, but adjust the cooking time accordingly (about 25 minutes).
- Serve over rice or noodles for a more filling meal.
- Add some toasted sesame seeds or scallions for extra flavor and texture.
- If you want to make this recipe ahead of time, you can marinate the chicken overnight in the fridge and roast it the next day.
