6 oz Frozen Artichoke Hearts
4 oz Cream Cheese
1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt

Roasted Garlic, Spinach and Artichoke Dip image

This is my version of the ever-so-popular dip we've all had in restaurants. It's a bit lower in calories than the restaurant version and tastes just as good, if not better.

Artichoke and roasted garlic dip is a classic appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are hosting a party or just looking for a tasty snack, this dip is sure to please. The combination of artichokes and roasted garlic creates a deliciously savory flavor that is hard to resist. With a few simple tips, you can easily make this dip at home and impress your friends and family.

Choosing the Right Artichokes

The first step in making artichoke and roasted garlic dip is to choose the right artichokes. Fresh artichokes are always the best choice, but they can be difficult to find and prepare. Canned or frozen artichokes are a great alternative and are readily available in most grocery stores. When choosing canned or frozen artichokes, look for ones that are packed in water rather than oil. Water-packed artichokes will have a cleaner and fresher taste.

Roasting Garlic

Roasting garlic is a crucial step in making artichoke and roasted garlic dip. Roasting garlic is incredibly easy and adds a rich flavor to the dip. To roast garlic, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut off the top of a garlic bulb and drizzle it with olive oil. Wrap the garlic bulb in foil and place it in the oven. Roast the garlic for 30-40 minutes, or until it is soft and golden brown. Once the garlic has cooled, squeeze the cloves out of the bulb and mince them.

Preparing Artichokes

Preparing artichokes for the dip can be a bit time-consuming, but it is worth it. If you are using fresh artichokes, start by trimming the stem and the top of the artichoke. Remove the tough outer leaves until you reach the lighter and more tender leaves. Cut the artichoke into quarters and remove the fuzzy choke in the center. Boil the artichoke quarters for 15-20 minutes or until they are tender. Drain the artichokes and chop them into small pieces. If you are using canned or frozen artichokes, simply rinse and drain them before chopping them into small pieces.

Creamy Base

The base of the artichoke and roasted garlic dip is typically a combination of cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. If you want to make the dip a bit healthier, you can substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream. It will still add a creamy texture to the dip but with fewer calories.

Seasoning

Seasoning is crucial when making artichoke and roasted garlic dip. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are essential ingredients for adding flavor to the dip. If you like a bit of heat, you can add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper. Fresh herbs, such as parsley or chives, can also add a burst of flavor to the dip.

Cheese

Adding cheese to the dip is optional, but it can add a nice depth of flavor. Parmesan or Romano cheese is a good choice for adding a salty and nutty flavor to the dip. You can also add a bit of mozzarella or cheddar cheese for a creamier texture.

Baking

Baking the dip is an optional step, but it can add a nice crust on top of the dip. If you decide to bake the dip, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread the dip into a shallow baking dish and sprinkle some cheese on top. Bake the dip for 20-25 minutes, or until it is hot and bubbly.

Serving

Artichoke and roasted garlic dip is best served warm with crackers or crostini. You can also serve it with sliced veggies, such as carrots and celery, for a healthier option. You can also use the dip as a spread on sandwiches or wraps.

Conclusion

Artichoke and roasted garlic dip is a delicious and easy appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. With a few simple tips, you can easily make this dip at home and impress your guests. Whether you are hosting a party or just looking for a tasty snack, artichoke and roasted garlic dip is sure to please.
