CHICKEN TUNA SALAD

Chicken Tuna Salad image

Here's a recipe I whipped up to jazz up the usual tuna or chicken salad. Instead of the usual 'tuna' I actually use a can of chunk solid white albacore. The resulting salad can be used in a wrap, on bread, on lettice leaves, and various other ways! Very tasty!

TINK'S CHICKEN & TUNA SALAD SANDWICHES

Tink's Chicken & Tuna Salad Sandwiches image

An easy combo of chicken and tuna that's not too fruity, sweet or spicy, but packed with flavors that really compliment each other. Tonight, DS told me he wasn't going to be home for dinner so I planned on just splitting one leftover chicken breast between DH, our toddler & myself. Then at the last minute DS said he was going to be home after all, but now I had nothing thawed to make! I got into creative mode, scrounged the fridge & pantry & came up with this unusual take on the chicken sandwich. I didn't expect great things, but my boys raved over it, I impressed myself & even my toddler ate it! In the future I will probably add green onion to the mix, as I usually would, but just didn't have it on hand this time. I'm posting my creation here so we can enjoy it again and in hopes that you'll find it as pretty and tasty as we did. :)

Valuable Tips When Making Aromatic Chicken and Tuna Salad Recipes

When it comes to preparing salads, chicken and tuna are two ingredients that never seem to fail. They are versatile, nutritious, and offer a range of flavors that can be enhanced with aromatic herbs and spices. Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind when making aromatic chicken and tuna salad recipes.
1. Choose High-Quality Ingredients
When making salads, it's important to start with high-quality ingredients. For chicken, choose free-range or organic cuts that are flavorful and tender. Canned tuna is a convenient option, but make sure to go for light or pole-caught tuna that's packed in water - this will be less fatty and less salty than oil-packed tuna.
2. Balance Flavors and Textures
Aromatic chicken and tuna salads should be well-balanced in terms of flavors and textures. Aim to include crunchy, fresh, and juicy elements that complement the protein. For example, veggies like cucumbers, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes can add crunch, while fruits like apples, grapes, or oranges can provide a touch of sweetness. Fresh herbs like parsley, basil, or cilantro can elevate the flavors and make the salad more aromatic and refreshing.
3. Control the Seasoning
Seasoning is key to making aromatic salads that are flavorful and satisfying. When making the dressing, use high-quality oils like olive oil or avocado oil as a base, and add fresh or dried herbs, spices, and acidic ingredients like lemon or vinegar to balance the flavors. Be mindful of the quantity of salt used - less is often better, as the tuna and chicken already contain some sodium.
4. Don't Overcook the Chicken
To make aromatic chicken salads, it's important to cook the chicken properly to avoid dryness or rubbery textures. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts can be poached, baked, or grilled for 6-8 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. To ensure tenderness, marinate the chicken in a mixture of olive oil, garlic, herbs, and lemon juice for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
5. Use Creative Presentation
Salads don't have to be boring. Use creative presentation techniques to make your aromatic chicken or tuna salad look more appetizing and colorful. For example, use a variety of greens as a base, arrange the chicken or tuna slices in a fan shape, and sprinkle some nuts or seeds on top for crunch. Serve the dressing on the side or drizzle it over the salad in a spiral pattern.
6. Keep it Fresh and Refrigerated
To get the best flavor and texture from your aromatic chicken or tuna salad, make sure to keep it fresh and refrigerated. Store the salad in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap, and try to consume it within 2-3 days. If you plan to make the salad ahead of time, keep the dressing separate from the ingredients until you're ready to serve it.
7. Experiment with Different Aromatics
Finally, don't be afraid to experiment with different aromatics when making chicken and tuna salads. Whether you prefer classic herbs like rosemary and thyme or more exotic spices like turmeric and cumin, there are endless possibilities to create unique and flavorful salads that will please any palate. Be creative and have fun in the kitchen! In conclusion, aromatic chicken and tuna salads are a delicious and healthy option for any meal or occasion. By following these valuable tips and using your creativity, you can make salads that are flavorful, nutritious, and aromatic. Remember to choose high-quality ingredients, balance flavors and textures, control the seasoning, cook the chicken properly, use creative presentation, keep it fresh and refrigerated, and experiment with different aromatics. Enjoy!
