Choosing the Perfect Apricots

When selecting apricots for your dessert bruschetta recipe, it's important to choose ripe and fragrant apricots. Fresh, juicy apricots have a slight give when squeezed and should have a vibrant orange color. Make sure to avoid choosing apricots that are too soft or bruised, as they may not be suitable for this dessert recipe.
Ripening and Storing Apricots
If you have purchased unripe apricots, you can ripen them at home by leaving them at room temperature for a few days, until they are slightly soft. Once the apricots are ripe, you can store them in the fridge for up to five days in a plastic bag. This will help to extend their freshness until you are ready to use them in your recipe.

Prepping the Apricots

When using apricots in a dessert recipe, it's important to remove their pit before slicing or chopping. You can do this by halving the apricots using a knife, then twisting and pulling out the pit. Alternatively, you can use a special tool called a cherry pitter to easily remove the pit.
Slicing the Apricots
Once you have pitted the apricots, you can slice them into thin wedges or small pieces, depending on your preference. Be sure to slice the apricots just before serving to prevent them from turning brown and losing their texture.

Selecting the Bread

Bruschetta is traditionally made with crusty Italian bread, such as ciabatta or baguette. When making dessert bruschetta, it's important to choose bread that will complement the sweet flavors of the apricots. Sourdough bread or brioche are excellent options for apricot dessert bruschetta.
Slicing and Toasting the Bread
Slice the bread into thin, bite-sized pieces and toast them until they are crispy and golden brown. Brushing the bread with butter or olive oil can add extra flavor and prevent it from becoming too dry.
