Tip 1: Choosing the Right Cut of Pork

When making applesauce crockpot pulled pork BBQ recipes, it's important to choose the right cut of pork. The best cut of pork for this dish is the pork shoulder or butt. The pork shoulder is a cheaper cut of meat that has more fat and connective tissue than other cuts. This makes it perfect for slow cooking because the fat and connective tissue break down and tenderize the meat, giving it a juicy and flavorful texture.
How to Choose the Right Cut of Pork
When choosing the right cut of pork for your applesauce crockpot pulled pork BBQ recipe, look for a piece of pork with good marbling, which means it has thin streaks of fat throughout the meat. You should also look for an even thickness throughout the pork, which will ensure that it cooks evenly. It's also important to choose a piece of pork that has a good amount of meat and fat content.

Tip 2: Preparing the Pork

Preparing the pork is an important step in making applesauce crockpot pulled pork BBQ recipes. It's important to trim off any excess fat from the pork shoulder before cooking. Leaving too much fat on the pork can make the dish too oily and greasy. Trimming off excess fat also helps the meat cook evenly, making it easier to shred.
How to Prepare the Pork
To prepare the pork for your applesauce crockpot pulled pork BBQ recipe, trim off any excess fat from the meat with a sharp knife. You can leave a thin layer of fat on the meat for flavor, but be sure not to leave too much. You should also season the pork with salt, pepper, and any other spices that you prefer. Be sure to rub the seasoning onto the meat to ensure that it is evenly coated.

Tip 3: Adding the Applesauce

Adding applesauce to your pulled pork is what gives it its unique flavor. Applesauce is a great alternative to sugar, especially if you want a healthier dish. It provides a natural sweetness that balances out the saltiness of the pork. The applesauce also helps to keep the pork moist throughout the cooking process.
How to Add the Applesauce
To add the applesauce to your applesauce crockpot pulled pork recipe, simply pour it over the pork in the crockpot. You can also mix the applesauce with other ingredients such as vinegar, ketchup, mustard, or hot sauce to create a flavorful BBQ sauce. Make sure to cover the pork completely with the applesauce mixture to ensure that it cooks evenly.

Tip 4: Cooking Time and Temperature

Cooking time and temperature are important factors to consider when making applesauce crockpot pulled pork BBQ recipes. Slow cooking is the key to cooking the pork to perfection. Most crockpot pulled pork recipes require cooking for 8-10 hours on low heat. You can also cook on high heat but reduce the cooking time to 4-5 hours.
How to Cook the Pork
Place the pork in the crockpot with the applesauce mixture and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or high heat for 4-5 hours. Pork is cooked when it is tender enough to easily shred with two forks. Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the crockpot and shred it with two forks. You can also mix the pork with the applesauce mixture to coat the meat.

Tip 5: Choosing the Right Side Dishes

Choosing the right side dishes is important when serving applesauce crockpot pulled pork BBQ recipes. This dish pairs well with coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, potato salad, and cornbread. The sides you choose should complement the flavor of the pork and the overall theme of your meal.
