KIELBASA APPLE KABOBS

Kielbasa Apple Kabobs image

This is a super simple recipe I copied from the Whole Foods Market website. The grilled kielbasa have such a wonderful flavor. You can even use turkey kielbasa to save on calories and fat. I use more apple just because my kids like the way they taste off the grill. It's okay to let the ingredients sit in the lemon juice mixture for a few minutes. I was concerned about that at first, but it does not overpower or alter the flavor of the dish. I also don't use the skewers. I use a grilling basket - it's much faster!! I serve with couscous.

Valuable Tips for Making Apple Potato Kielbasa Kabobs

If you are looking for an easy and delicious meal to prepare, then apple potato kielbasa kabobs can be a great option. They are quick and easy to make, and they require minimal ingredients. However, to ensure that you get the best taste out of your kabobs, there are some valuable tips that you need to keep in mind. Here are some of the tips that you can use to make your apple potato kielbasa kabobs perfect:
1. Choose the Right Kielbasa
The choice of kielbasa that you use can significantly affect the taste of your kabobs. Kielbasa is a type of sausage that is made from pork, beef, or a combination of both. When choosing kielbasa for your kabobs, make sure that you choose the right type of meat to suit your taste. Some people prefer beef kielbasa, while others prefer pork. You can also go for a mix of both if you would like to experiment with the taste.
2. Soak the Skewers Before Grilling
Soaking your skewers before grilling can help prevent them from burning. Wooden skewers tend to burn when exposed to high heat, and this can affect the taste of your kabobs. Soak the skewers in water for about 30 minutes before use to avoid this problem. This will also prevent the skewers from splintering and becoming a hazard when grilling.
3. Cut the Potatoes into Small Pieces
To ensure that the potatoes cook evenly, cut them into small pieces that are the same size as your apple and kielbasa pieces. This will also help to make sure that the potatoes are cooked through and tender when it is time to serve your kabobs.
4. Use Apples That Hold Their Shape
When making apple potato kielbasa kabobs, it is essential to choose apples that are firm and hold their shape when cooked. Soft or mushy apples can quickly turn to applesauce when cooked on the grill, and this can affect the texture and taste of your kabobs. Some apple varieties that are ideal for kabobs include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady.
5. Use a Marinade to Add Flavor
Marinating your kielbasa, potatoes, and apples before grilling can help to add flavor and ensure that your kabobs are moist and tender. You can use a variety of marinades, from simple oil and vinegar dressings to more complex spice rubs. Some ingredients that you can use to marinade your kabobs include garlic, onions, mustard, honey, and thyme.
6. Don't Overcrowd the Kabobs on the Skewers
To ensure that your kabobs cook evenly, make sure that you don't overcrowd them on the skewers. Leave some space between the pieces so that they can cook through evenly without overlapping each other. Overcrowding can cause some pieces to cook faster than others, which can affect the taste and texture of your kabobs.
7. Cook Kabobs Over Medium-High Heat
Grilling your kabobs over medium-high heat can help to create a nice charred surface while ensuring that the vegetables and meat are cooked through. If you grill your kabobs over high heat, some pieces may burn before cooking through. Lower heat can also make your kabobs dry and tough.
8. Brush with Sauce or Oil While Grilling
Brushing your kabobs with sauce or oil while grilling can help to create a flavorful and moist surface. This will also help to prevent the kabobs from drying out during cooking. You can use a wide variety of sauces, from BBQ to teriyaki to glazes flavored with honey or maple syrup.
9. Let the Kabobs Rest Before Serving
To ensure that your kabobs are moist and tender, let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will also allow the juices to redistribute throughout the kabobs, ensuring that each bite is flavorful and moist.
10. Serve with a Side Dish
While apple potato kielbasa kabobs make a delicious and filling meal on their own, they can also be served with a side dish to round out the meal. You can serve your kabobs with a variety of side dishes, such as rice, couscous, quinoa, or a salad. This will also help to add some variety to your meal and make it more satisfying. In conclusion, making apple potato kielbasa kabobs is simple and easy, but there are some valuable tips that you need to keep in mind to ensure that you get the best taste out of your kabobs. By following these tips, you can make kabobs that are moist, tender, and flavorful – perfect for any occasion. Enjoy!
