RASPBERRY-APPLE CIDER ICED TEA

Raspberry-Apple Cider Iced Tea image

This raspberry tea includes apple cider vinegar with the mother, which has been proven to have so many health benefits! You can drink this tea warm in the winter or iced in the summer. You may need to work up to the full amount of vinegar and ginger if it's too tart for you. I love the bite the ginger gives, but it can be omitted. What a great way to hydrate!

ROOIBOS, FRESH APPLE, GINGER AND LEMON ICED TEA

Rooibos, Fresh Apple, Ginger and Lemon Iced Tea image

You'll need a good juicer. Rooibos (redbush) is a herb-type plant that only thrives in the Cederberg mountain area, about 200 kms north of Cape Town, South Africa. Its health properties have been increasingly studied and confirmed in recent years and the tea (tisane, or infusion) of rooibos has become popular in Western countries and is available in the herbal tea section of many supermarkets as well as specialty health stores. Babies that grow up in South Africa are often fed rooibos tea from the bottle. It is high in antioxidants and micro-nutrients, and contains no caffeine. Since I live near to where rooibos is grown and I have a newfound love affair with juicing fresh fruits, I want to share this awesome iced tea, packed full of goodness. You won't need to sweeten this iced tea, since there is so much sweetness and deliciousness in the fresh apple juice. The ginger adds zing and has additional health benefits, and the lemon adds a hint of tartness and of course Vitamin C.

Categories     Beverages

Time 2h10m

Yield 4 glasses, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

800 ml water
6 rooibos tea bags
4 apples, any eating apples are fine but my favourite are Granny Smith apples, green, tart and so very sweet
2 cm fresh ginger, peel included
2 cm fresh lemon, washed, peel included

Steps:

  • Boil water and pour over rooibos teabags in a teapot or jug. You'll see the lovely red colour developing immediately.
  • Allow rooibos infusion to cool down and transfer to fridge, with tea bags remaining - you really want to extract the most out of this healthy tea.
  • Juice apples with ginger and lemon and chill in fridge. (Use freezer for the juice and rooibos to shorten time between making and serving.).
  • To serve, fill each glass with about two-thirds rooibos and one-third juice, adjusting according to your guest's taste for sweetness. Stir and enjoy this healthy iced rooibos tea!

Valuable Tips When Making Apple Iced Tea Recipes

Making apple iced tea is a refreshing way to quench thirst on a hot and humid day. Not only is it delicious but it is also packed with health benefits. Apple iced tea can help reduce inflammation, prevent chronic diseases, and promote weight loss. When making apple iced tea, there are some tips that are important to keep in mind to ensure that the final result is the perfect blend of flavors.
Use Fresh Ingredients
The key to making the perfect apple iced tea is to use fresh ingredients. Always use freshly chopped apples and freshly brewed tea. Fresh ingredients have more flavor and aroma, which boosts the taste of your apple iced tea.
Choose the Right Apples
When making apple iced tea, it is essential to choose the right type of apples. The best apples for apple iced tea are the ones that are sweet, juicy, and crunchy. Examples of such apples are Gala, Fuji, and Honeycrisp. These apples are perfect for iced tea because they have a thin skin that blends perfectly with the tea.
Brew Your Tea to Perfection
The next step in making apple iced tea is to brew your tea to perfection. This means that you need to follow the instructions on how to make the perfect tea. The amount of tea leaves, water temperature, and steeping time are essential factors when making tea. Always use high-quality tea leaves when brewing your tea to ensure maximum flavor.
Add Natural Sweeteners
Adding natural sweeteners like honey, agave, or maple syrup can make your apple iced tea taste fantastic. These natural sweeteners are healthier than white sugar and add a unique depth of flavor to your iced tea. It is also important to balance the sweetness of your apple iced tea. Add sweeteners gradually until you achieve the desired taste.
Experiment with Spices
Spices like cinnamon, cloves, ginger, or nutmeg can add a unique flavor to your apple iced tea. Experiment with different spices to find the perfect blend. Cinnamon, for instance, is perfect for apple iced tea because it complements the flavor of apples. Ginger, on the other hand, can add a spicy kick, which is perfect for those who prefer their apple iced tea to have a bit of a zing.
Consider Adding Fruit Juices
Adding fruit juices to your apple iced tea can give it a unique twist. For example, adding lemon or orange juice can enhance the flavor of your apple iced tea. When adding fruit juices, ensure that they are freshly squeezed and free from additives and artificial sweeteners.
Use Cold Water or Ice
When making apple iced tea, it is essential to use cold water or ice to cool it down. Do not use hot water as it will result in a bitter taste. Once you have brewed your tea, let it cool down before adding ice. Always use fresh and clean ice to avoid contamination.
Refrigerate Your Apple Iced Tea
After making your apple iced tea, refrigerate it for at least an hour to chill. Chilled apple iced tea is refreshing and perfect for hot days. To prevent diluting your apple iced tea, make ice cubes from your apple puree or iced tea.
Store Your Apple Iced Tea Properly
If you have leftover apple iced tea, store it properly in the refrigerator. Apple iced tea can last for up to three days when stored in an airtight container. However, it is best to consume your apple iced tea within 24 hours of making it for maximum flavor and freshness.
Experiment with Different Variations
