Time 22m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¾ cup whole milk
2 large eggs
2 TB regular butter (melted)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 small OR 1 large apples; peeled (grated, and squeezed dry)
4 TB regular butter
½ cup sugar
1-2 tsp cinnamon (depending on how much cinnamon flavor you like)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F and set rack on middle or lower middle position. Grease mini donut pans and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, 2 TB melted butter, vanilla extract, and grated apple (I use the largest holes of box grater; then squeeze out as much juice as you can. Save juice for drinking - yum.)
  • Use rubber spatula to fold wet ingredients with dry ingredients, gently folding just until combined; do not over-mix or it won't be as tender. Spoon or pipe batter into greased mini donut pans until batter is level with the top of pan. Use damp fingers to gently smooth out the tops.
  • Bake about 7 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool in pan slightly, just until they are able to be easily removed. Set donuts on wire rack while you make the cinnamon-sugar coating.
  • Whisk together the sugar with desired amount of cinnamon in a small bowl (this can be done days ahead of time.) Melt butter in another small bowl. When ready to eat, dip donuts in melted butter and roll generously in cinnamon sugar. Enjoy immediately.

Valuable Tips when Making Apple House Cinnamon Doughnuts Recipes

Making apple house cinnamon doughnuts is an excellent way to satisfy your sweet tooth while indulging in the delicious flavors of cinnamon and apple. However, making the perfect batch of these doughnuts can be quite challenging. Here are some valuable tips to consider to help you make the perfect apple house cinnamon doughnuts.
1. Choosing the right Apples
Choosing the right apples for your apple house cinnamon doughnuts is crucial. Select apples that are firm, slightly tart, and slightly sweet. Granny Smith apples work well because they have a tart taste that contrasts well with the sweetness of the doughnuts. However, if you prefer sweeter apples, you can choose Honeycrisp apples, which are slightly sweeter but still firm enough to hold their shape and not become too soft during baking.
2. Use freshly ground Cinnamon
Cinnamon is an essential ingredient when making apple house cinnamon doughnuts. Using freshly ground cinnamon enhances the flavor of the doughnuts, making them taste more delicious. Invest in a good quality cinnamon grinder or a spice grinder to grind your cinnamon fresh. Ground cinnamon that has been sitting in your spice cabinet for months will not have the same rich aroma and flavor as freshly ground cinnamon.
3. Use a Donut Pan
Having the right baking equipment is important when making apple house cinnamon doughnuts. Instead of frying your doughnuts, choose a donut pan to bake them. Baking your doughnuts reduces the amount of oil used, and the result is a healthier version of your favorite treat. Using a donut pan also ensures that your doughnuts cook evenly, making sure that all sides are fully cooked and golden brown.
4. Don't Overmix the Dough
Overmixing the dough can result in a tough and chewy texture. When making apple house cinnamon doughnuts, mix the ingredients until just combined. If you overmix the dough, it will be too elastic, making it hard to shape and cut. When mixing the ingredients, use a wooden spoon or a rubber spatula because they are gentle on the dough and won't overmix it.
5. Chill your Dough
Chilling the dough before rolling and cutting the doughnuts is essential. The cold dough is much easier to handle, and it holds its shape better during baking. By chilling the dough, you are reducing the risk of the doughnuts spreading and becoming distorted during baking. When chilling the dough, make sure to cover it well with plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out.
6. Control the Temperature of the Oil
If you decide to fry your apple house cinnamon doughnuts, make sure to control the temperature of the oil. A temperature of 375°F is ideal for frying doughnuts. If the oil is too hot, the doughnuts will cook too quickly on the outside, leaving the inside raw. Alternatively, if the oil is not hot enough, the doughnuts will absorb too much oil and become greasy. To ensure that the oil is the right temperature, use a thermometer to monitor the oil's temperature.
7. Roll your Doughnuts in Cinnamon and Sugar while they are still warm
Rolling your apple house cinnamon doughnuts in cinnamon and sugar while they are still warm is crucial to achieve the best texture and taste. The warmth of the doughnuts allows the cinnamon and sugar mixture to adhere to the doughnuts better, creating a sweet and crunchy coating. Ensure that your doughnuts are still warm when you roll them with the cinnamon and sugar mixture to achieve the best results. In conclusion, making the perfect apple house cinnamon doughnuts is not rocket science. By following these valuable tips, you can take your baking to the next level, creating delicious and irresistible apple house cinnamon doughnuts. Remember to choose the right apples, use freshly ground cinnamon, don't overmix the dough, chill your dough, control the temperature of the oil, and roll your doughnuts in cinnamon and sugar while they are still warm. Happy baking!
