TOSSED GREENS WITH PINEAPPLE, APPLE AND FETA CHEESE

Tossed Greens With Pineapple, Apple and Feta Cheese image

This is a simple tossed salad, and I love the fact that the vinaigrette is oil-free. The dressing has a bit of a tang to it, but it is well-balanced by the sweetness of the fruit. I used Golden Delicious apples since they don't turn brown when cut, and romaine lettuce for the greens. I think the greens should be something "sturdy" to hold up to the apples and pineapple. Spinach would also be great! This recipe comes from Del Monte. Edited to note that I have this posted in the vegan category, even though feta cheese is listed in the ingredients because I have made this without cheese, too, and it is also good that way.

Apple Feta Tossed Salad is a perfect summer dish that can be enjoyed by anyone, anytime. With the sweetness of apples paired with tangy feta cheese, this salad promises to satisfy your cravings and is highly nutritious. If you want to get creative with your salad and make it more flavorful and mouth-watering, here are some valuable tips to try out:

1. Choose the right apples

The key ingredient in this salad is the apple, and it's crucial to choose the right apples to make the salad more flavorful. It is recommended to use crisp apples such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Pink Lady apples. These apples have a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, which will give your salad a refreshing taste.

2. Cut your apple into small pieces

Cutting your apple into small pieces not only makes the salad easier to eat, but it also enhances its visual appeal. Plus, it helps the flavors of the apple blend well with the other ingredients in the salad.

3. Add some greens

The greens you use in your salad can make all the difference. Baby spinach, arugula, and mixed greens are great options to add some crunch and color to your salad. These greens also provide various nutrients and antioxidants that are beneficial to your health.

4. Include some protein

To make your salad more filling, adding some protein is a must. Feta cheese is an excellent option as it gives a tangy flavor to the salad and provides protein. You can also add grilled chicken, salmon, or tofu to your salad.

5. Don't forget the dressing

The dressing you choose can make or break your salad. A simple homemade vinaigrette with olive oil, lemon juice, and honey is a great option for this salad. It complements the flavors of the apple and feta perfectly while keeping the salad light and healthy. You can also try balsamic vinaigrette, ranch, or honey mustard dressing.

6. Add other fruits and nuts

If you want to add more depth of flavor to your salad, try incorporating other fruits such as pears or dried cranberries. Nuts like walnuts and almonds provide a crunchy texture and enhance the flavors of the salad. However, make sure to use these ingredients sparingly, so they don't overpower the flavors of the apple and feta.

7. Mix and match ingredients

Don't be afraid to mix and match different ingredients to make your salad unique. You can add sliced red onion, cherry tomatoes, or avocados to your salad to give it a bit of a bite. Experiment with different textures and flavors, and you may come up with your new signature Apple Feta Tossed Salad recipe.

Conclusion

Apple Feta Tossed Salad is an excellent option for anyone who wants to eat healthy and delicious food. By following these valuable tips, you can enhance the flavors of your salad and make it unique. Remember to choose the right ingredients, cut them properly, and balance the flavors to create a fantastic salad that everyone will love.
