2 tablespoons cinnamon
Fritters:
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 green apples, unpeeled, finely diced

Steps:

  • Directions Cinnamon Sugar 1. Whisk the cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl and set aside. Fritters 1. Pour the butter milk into your blender and crack in the eggs. Pulse once or twice, just enough to combine thoroughly without needlessly aerating the works. Add the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, sugar and salt and blend until a smooth batter forms, scraping the sides once or twice with a rubber spatula. Rest the batter for 15 minutes giving the gluten strands formed with the flour a chance to relax and tenderize. 2. Transfer the batter into a large bowl and add the diced apples, mixing well. 3. Pour a one-inch deep puddle of oil into a large skillet or deeper pot and heat over medium high heat until the oil is 375ºF. Carefully drop a heaping tablespoon of the batter into the skillet, repeating, turning and frying until the fritters are golden brown and delicious, 2 to 3 minutes. All the while, keep an eye on the oil temperature striving to keep it between 365ºF and 375ºF. Toss the fritters in the cinnamon sugar as they emerge from the hot oil. Serve and share as is, hot and delicious or if you like with cinnamon applesauce

Apple cinnamon fritters are a delightful, sweet treat that is perfect for any time of the day. These warm, fluffy doughnuts are filled with juicy chunks of apple that have been infused with cinnamon. This is a classic flavor combination that is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth craving.

The Recipe

To make apple cinnamon fritters, you will need several key ingredients. These include flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, eggs, milk, butter, apples, and cinnamon. Start by combining your dry ingredients - flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt - in a large mixing bowl. Then, add in your wet ingredients - eggs, milk, and melted butter - and mix thoroughly. Your dough should be smooth and sticky.

Preparing the Apples

The next step is to prepare your apples. Wash and peel several apples and cut them into small pieces. Place them in a mixing bowl and sprinkle cinnamon over the top. Mix the cinnamon into the apple pieces so that each piece is evenly coated. The cinnamon will infuse the apples with a warm, comforting flavor that complements the sweetness of the doughnuts.

Forming the Fritters

To form your fritters, use a spoon or ice cream scoop to portion out small balls of dough. Flatten each ball slightly and place a few pieces of apple in the center. Fold the dough over the apple pieces, pinching the edges together to form a seal. Repeat this process until all of your dough has been used.

Cooking and Serving

To cook your fritters, you will need to heat a deep fryer or a large pot of oil. When the oil is hot, carefully place several fritters in the oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pot. Cook the fritters until they are golden brown on both sides, which should take about 2-3 minutes. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain off any excess oil. When the fritters are cool enough to handle, generously dust them with powdered sugar and serve them warm.

The History of Fritters

Fritters have a long and fascinating history, dating back to ancient Roman times. The Romans were known to make fritters using a dough of flour, milk, eggs, and cheese or honey. The Middle Ages saw fritters become a popular dish among the nobility, who would often serve them at lavish feasts. In the 16th century, fritters made their way to America, where they became a staple of Southern cuisine. Today, fritters can be found all over the world, in a variety of flavors and styles.

Valuable Tips for Making Apple Cinnamon Fritters Recipes

Are you a fan of sweet and delicious apple cinnamon fritters? If so, then you might want to learn how to recreate the recipe in your own kitchen. Making apple cinnamon fritters can be quite simple and easy, but there are some valuable tips you should know to ensure that your fritters come out just right. Below are some essential tips that will help you make perfect apple cinnamon fritters every time.
Tip #1: Choose the Right Apples
Selecting the right type of apples for your fritters is the first secret to success. Use apples that are firm and not too ripe, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Jonagold apples. Avoid using soft or mealy apples because they will turn to mush when cooked.
Tip #2: Properly Prepare the Apples
Before adding the apples to the fritter batter, ensure that they are peeled, cored, and sliced into thin pieces. It's essential to cut the apples into small pieces so that they cook thoroughly and are evenly distributed throughout the fritters.
Tip #3: Use the Right Flour
Using the right type of flour is also important when making apple cinnamon fritters. All-purpose flour or pastry flour is ideal, as they will give the fritters the right texture and crispiness.
Tip #4: Mix the Batter Correctly
Preparing the fritter batter correctly is critical to achieving the perfect texture. Use a whisk to mix the dry ingredients together and add the wet ingredients gradually to prevent lumps. Beat the batter until it's smooth and lump-free.
Tip #5: Don't Overmix the Batter
Overmixing the batter can make the fritters tough and chewy. So, once the wet and dry ingredients are mixed uniformly, stop mixing.
Tip #6: Let the Batter Rest
After preparing the batter, let it rest for about 10-15 minutes. This resting period allows the gluten in the flour to relax, giving the fritters a softer and tender texture.
Tip #7: Use the Right Cooking Oil
You can use vegetable or canola oil for frying the fritters. Heat the oil to the right temperature(350°F) before adding the fritter batter. Don't use butter or margarine, as they'll burn easily.
Tip #8: Test the Oil Temperature
Testing the oil temperature is crucial to cook the fritters evenly without burning them. If the oil is too hot, the fritters will cook too quickly and may be undercooked inside, whereas too cool oil will make the fritters greasy. Rub a small amount of fritter batter on the surface of the hot oil. If it starts bubbling and sizzling immediately, the oil is ready to use.
Tip #9: Drain the Fritters Properly
Draining the fritters correctly is a critical step to achieve a crispy texture. Once cooked, remove the fritters from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them onto a paper towel-lined plate for 1-2 minutes to remove excess oil.
Tip #10: Coat the Fritters with Cinnamon and Sugar
Coating the fritters in cinnamon and sugar is the final step to adding a sweet and delicious touch to them. In a bowl, mix together cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle the mixture onto the hot fritters immediately after removing them from the oil.

Conclusion

Making apple cinnamon fritters recipes requires the right ingredients, preparation, cooking techniques, and attention to detail. By following these valuable tips, you'll be able to make perfect apple cinnamon fritters every time. So, get to work and enjoy making this delicious treat right in the comfort of your home.
