Categories     Breads

Time 35m

Yield 16 rolls, 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 18

1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup water
0.5 (3 1/2 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding, box
1 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
3 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup pecan halves
1 tablespoon milk, just enough to brush over the dough
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • Rolls:
  • Place ingredients in machine following the specifications of that particular machine. Set for dough cycle. If bread machine seems to be working too hard to mix dough, sometimes I add 1 - 2 Tbls vegetable oil to get it moving better.
  • After complete on dough cycle, remove from machine and roll out to about 17x10" rectangle. The larger you roll the rectangle, the more layers you have, which is really nice.
  • Caramel Pecan Topping:.
  • Mix butter, brown sugar and water together in a small saucepan, heat on low until butter is melted.
  • Increase heat to medium and boil, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.
  • Stir in vanilla and remove from heat.
  • Pour into cake pan, then place pecan halves over the caramel.
  • Filling:
  • Mix together brown sugar, pecans and cinnamon.
  • Moisten the dough by brushing with milk.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar, pecan and cinnamon mixture over top.
  • Roll tightly from long end, pinching edges closed when completely rolled (sometimes putting a little milk on the edge helps seal it).
  • Slice rolled dough into 1/2" slices (or larger if a larger bun is preferred).
  • Place into pan on top of caramel.
  • Let rise until doubled (about an hour, or quicker if you put the pan on a heating pad).
  • Bake at 350° for 20 minutes, until golden. Do not overbake.
  • Invert onto a cookie sheet immediately, before caramel hardens.

While making these rolls may seem intimidating, with a few essential tips, you can master the art of creating flaky, soft, and caramel-coated rolls effortlessly. In this article, we bring you some of the valuable tips and tricks that you should consider when making Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls.

Important Tips to Consider When Making Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls

1. Use High-Quality Ingredients
The quality of your ingredients determines the overall quality of your rolls. Make sure that you use fresh, high-quality ingredients when making your dough. For instance, you can use high-protein flour, fresh yeast, and high-quality butter when making Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls. Doing so will give your rolls a soft texture and a rich flavor, making them taste heavenly.
2. Use a Bread Machine
Using a bread machine is one of the essential tips for making Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls. A bread machine makes the dough for you, saves you time, and ensures that your dough receives enough heat during the kneading process to achieve the desired results. Additionally, using a bread machine ensures that your dough rises perfectly, giving your rolls a fluffy texture.
3. Let the Dough Rest
Once you have made your dough, you need to let it rest for a while. Allowing the dough to rest gives it enough time to rise, ensuring that your rolls come out fluffy and soft. Moreover, resting the dough lets the gluten relax, making it easier to roll and shape your dough. Therefore, be patient and give your dough plenty of time to rise and rest before rolling it.
4. Don't Roll Your Dough Too Thin
When rolling out your dough, it's essential to avoid rolling it too thin. Rolling your dough too thin affects the texture of your rolls, making them less fluffy and more crispy. Instead, roll your dough between 1/4 and 1/2 inches thick to ensure that your rolls come out perfectly. Use a ruler to measure the thickness of your dough.
5. Use Room-Temperature Ingredients
Ensure that all your ingredients are at room temperature before using them. Using room-temperature ingredients ensures that your dough rises perfectly, making your rolls soft and fluffy. For instance, if you use cold butter, it will take longer to incorporate it into your dough, affecting the texture of your rolls. Therefore, ensure that all ingredients, including butter, eggs, and milk, are at room temperature.
6. Consider the Filling
The filling is one of the critical aspects of your Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls. Therefore, ensure that you use delicious and quality ingredients for your filling. You can use a mixture of sugar, cinnamon, and butter for your filling. Alternatively, you can use nuts or raisins to add more flavor and texture to your rolls.
7. Use the Correct Baking Temperature and Time
Once you have rolled out your dough and added your filling, it's time to bake your rolls. For perfect Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls, it's crucial to use the correct baking temperature and time. Bake your rolls at 375°F for about 25-30 minutes, depending on your oven. Don't overbake your rolls as they may become too crispy and lose their soft, fluffy texture.
8. Let Your Rolls Cool Before Serving
Once you have finished baking your Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls, let them cool before serving. Letting them cool allows the filling to set, making them easier to handle and eat. Additionally, cutting the rolls while they are still hot can lead to the filling oozing out, and the rolls becoming messy. Therefore, let your rolls cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving.

Conclusion

With these essential tips, you can easily make perfect Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls that are flaky, soft, and delicious. Ensure that you use high-quality ingredients, use a bread machine, let your dough rest, avoid rolling your dough too thin, use room-temperature ingredients, consider your filling, use the correct baking temperature, and let your rolls cool before serving. By following these tips, you can create the perfect Annas Cinnamon Caramel Rolls that you and your family will love.
