ANGEL FOOD DELIGHT

Angel Food Delight image

I found this in a magazine, I believe it was "Quick & Easy" while waiting for an appointment. Unfortunately, I do not remember what they called it so I have just called it Angel Food Delight. It sounded too easy to be true but it was wonderful. The original recipe said to chill for an hour but I found it took longer for the flavors to merge. I liked the adaptability of using different toppings. The recipe called for 2 cans of Pie Filling but I found 1 to be sufficient. However, use your own judgement. While the flavor is rich, it is not a heavy dessert and everyone has loved it.

Strawberry Angel Delight Lush Dessert Recipe image

How to make the most heavenly strawberry angel delight for dessert. Easy, luscious recipe with angel food cake, Dream Whip, and cream cheese.

Provided by Mel Lockcuff

Categories     No Bake Desserts

Time 5h

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 1/2 tablespoons corn starch
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup strawberry purée*
2 envelopes Dream Whip (1 box)
1 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
16 ounces cream cheese (softened)
2 cups powdered sugar
10 ounces angel food cake
6 cups sliced strawberries

Steps:

  • Whisk corn starch and water together in a small bowl or liquid measuring cup.
  • Add the corn starch mixture together with the sugar in a medium saucepan.
  • Mix in the strawberry purée.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over low to medium heat, constantly stirring with a spatula. Once the mixture boils, cook for 3 to 5 more minutes, or until your sauce thickens up and turns a deep ruby red.
  • Then remove your strawberry sauce from the heat and allow it to cool. I like to put mine in the freezer, stirring occasionally, while I go about making the filling and preparing my crust.
  • Add the Dream Whip, milk, and vanilla to a large mixing bowl.
  • Whisk them together, according to package directions, 'til the mixture begins to form soft peaks. It'll take about 4 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the cream cheese well. Then add both the cream cheese and the powdered sugar to the Dream Whip mixture.
  • Whisk for about 3 to 5 minutes, or 'til smooth and creamy.
  • Slice the angel food cake into 1-inch cubes, and spread those cubes in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
  • Spread the creamy Dream Whip filling over the angel food cake.
  • Once the sauce has cooled, mix the sliced strawberries into the sauce.
  • Then spread that wonderful strawberry sauce over the Dream Whip filling.
  • Cover and chill it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible, before serving.

ANGEL'S DELIGHT

Angel's Delight image

Provided by Molly O'Neill

Categories     project, dessert

Time 30m

Yield Four servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
8 small fresh strawberries, hulled
Butter and granulated sugar for molds
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, preferably Valrhona, coarsely chopped (see note above)
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
Pinch salt
2 tablespoons cocoa
4 egg whites
3 tablespoons granulated sugar

Steps:

  • To make the angel hair, combine sugar, corn syrup and water in a medium saucepan. Place over high heat and cook, swirling pan occasionally, until the mixture reaches 305 degrees on a candy thermometer. Immediately remove from heat and plunge the bottom of the pan into cold water. Let stand until mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Place a large sheet of parchment paper on a work surface. Hold 2 forks in 1 hand and dip the tines into the syrup. Rapidly wave the forks back and forth over the parchment paper, letting the thin, fine strands fall on the paper. Repeat with remaining syrup. Set aside.
  • Thinly slice the strawberries. Either use a small heart-shaped cutter to cut hearts out of strawberry slices or trim them into heart shapes with a small knife. Set aside.
  • To make the cake, preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter 4 1-cup ramekins and coat with sugar. Set aside. Place chocolate, butter and salt in a double boiler. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until melted. Remove from heat, add cocoa and whisk until smooth. In separate bowl, whip egg whites on medium speed until foamy. Add sugar, turn speed to high and whip to stiff peaks. Very gently fold chocolate into egg whites. Spoon the mixture into the molds until they are 3/4 full (this may not take all of the batter). Bake until puffed and browned but still liquid in the center, about 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Run a small knife inside the rim of the molds to loosen. Invert the cakes onto the center of each of 4 plates. Wrap some of the angel hair around each of the cakes. Scatter a few of the strawberry hearts over the angel hair. Serve immediately.

This sweet treat has been a favorite for decades and is loved by adults and children alike. Angels delight recipes are easy and straightforward, making them accessible even for beginners in the kitchen. However, to create the perfect angels delight, there are several tips and tricks you should keep in mind. In this article, we will explore valuable tips for making the best angels delight recipes.

Tip 1: Choosing the Right Ingredients

The ingredients you use in your angels delight recipe will determine the final outcome's taste and texture. The following are some critical ingredients you should consider using or avoiding:
Use Fresh Ingredients:
Fresh ingredients will enhance the flavor and texture of your angels delight. Fresh fruits such as strawberries, raspberries or blueberries, will give your pudding a lovely taste, aroma, and color. If you are making a chocolate-based angels delight, ensure that you use high-quality chocolate.
Avoid Using Artificial Flavors:
Artificial flavors may give your pudding a unique taste, but many of them contain harmful chemicals that can harm your health. Instead, consider using natural flavors such as vanilla, lemon, or orange zest. These flavors will give your angels delight a fantastic taste without any harmful effects.
Use High-Quality Cream:
The cream you use in your angels delight recipe should be of high quality to ensure the best flavor and texture. Avoid using low-fat cream, as it may not give your pudding the creamy texture that you are after.

Tip 2: Get Creative with the Recipe

Angels delight is a versatile dessert that you can customize to suit your taste. You can add various ingredients to create different flavors and textures. Some excellent ideas to experiment with include:
Add Fruits:
Fruits add a lovely texture and flavor to your dessert. You can use fresh or frozen fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, peaches, or pineapple. To make your pudding even more delicious, you can use a combination of different fruits.
Add Nuts:
Nuts such as almonds, walnuts, or hazelnuts add a crunchy texture and a unique flavor to your dessert. You can chop the nuts and mix them into the pudding mixture or sprinkle them on top of the pudding before serving.
Use Cookies or Biscuits:
Crushed cookies or biscuits such as digestive biscuits or graham crackers can be an easy way to add crunch to your pudding. You can mix them into the pudding mixture or sprinkle them on top of the pudding before serving.
Experiment with Different Flavors:
You don't have to stick to a traditional recipe. You can try different flavors such as chocolate, coffee, or caramel. You can add some cocoa powder to your angels delight to make a chocolate pudding or some coffee granules to make a coffee-flavored pudding.

Tip 3: Don't Overwhip the Cream

Whipped cream is an essential ingredient in angels delight, and it's crucial to know how to whip it correctly. Overwhipping cream can cause it to turn into butter, ruining the pudding's texture. The following are some tips on whipping cream:
Use Chilled Cream:
Start by chilling your cream in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before whipping. Cold cream whips faster and holds its shape better than warm cream.
Whip at Low Speed:
Start by whipping the cream at low speed and gradually increase the speed as the cream thickens. This will help you avoid overwhipping the cream.
Stop Whipping When It Forms Soft Peaks:
Stop whipping the cream when it forms soft peaks that hold their shape. Soft peaks are peaks that droop slightly when you lift the whisk.

Tip 4: Chill the Pudding Before Serving

Chilling the angels delight is essential to ensure that it sets correctly and has the right texture. You should chill the pudding for at least four hours or overnight before serving. The following are some tips on chilling the angels delight:
Cover the Pudding:
Cover the pudding with plastic wrap or aluminum foil before placing it in the fridge. This will prevent the pudding from drying out or absorbing the flavors of other foods in the fridge.
Use a Flat Surface:
Make sure that the pudding is placed on a flat surface in the fridge. This will help the pudding set evenly, preventing it from becoming lopsided.
Give it Enough Time:
Chill the angels delight for at least four hours or overnight before serving. This will give the pudding enough time to set and acquire the desired texture.

Tip 5: Serve with Toppings

Toppings can take your angels delight recipe to the next level. You can use different toppings, depending on your preferences. The following are some fantastic toppings you can try:
Whipped Cream:
Add a dollop of whipped cream to your angels delight before serving. Whipped cream adds a lovely texture and flavor to your pudding, making it even more delicious.
Fruits:
Fresh fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries are a perfect topping for your angels delight. You can sprinkle some fruits on top of the pudding before serving to enhance the flavor and texture.
Sprinkles:
Sprinkles such as chocolate sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, or crushed nuts can add color and texture to your pudding. You can sprinkle some of these toppings on top of the pudding before serving.

Conclusion

Angels delight recipes are a simple, delicious dessert that can be enjoyed by everyone. Whether you're making it for a party or a family dinner, there are several tips you can use to make your pudding even more delicious. Choosing the right ingredients, getting creative with the recipe, not over-whipping the cream, chilling the pudding before serving, and topping it off with delicious toppings are all critical.
