Steps:
- To make the sauce: Bring the cream, milk, and sugar to a boil in a heavy small saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently. In a small bowl, mix the amaretto and cornstarch to blend and then whisk into the cream mixture. Simmer over medium-low heat until the sauce thickens, stirring constantly, about 2 minutes. Set aside and keep warm. (The amaretto sauce can be made 3 days ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Rewarm before serving.)
- To make the bread pudding: Lightly butter a 13 by 9 by 2-inch baking dish. Arrange the bread cubes in the prepared dish. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, cream, milk, and sugar to blend. Pour the custard over the bread cubes, and press the bread cubes gently to submerge. Let stand for 30 minutes, occasionally pressing the bread cubes into the custard mixture. (Recipe can be prepared up to this point 2 hours ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Bake until the pudding puffs and is set in the center, about 45 minutes. Cool slightly. Spoon the bread pudding into bowls, drizzle with the warm amaretto sauce, and serve.

SAVOURY AMARETTO CREAM SAUCE
A lovely sauce for pasta and chicken (or whatever you may like). Not for dieters, but worth every calorie! I love amaretto and looked high and low for a sauce recipe. I couldn't find any on Zaar that fit the bill so this one was created based on the few that I found from other online sources. It does not have an overwhelmingly amaretto flavour, but you will detect a hint of sweetness. Smells divine! Note: Cook time is approximate and your yield may vary, depending on how much you let it reduce after each addition.

Variations:
While the classic version of amaretto butter sauce is delicious, there are many ways that you can modify the recipe to suit your tastes. Here are a few variations to try:
1. Chocolate Amaretto Butter Sauce
For those who love chocolate, adding cocoa powder to the classic amaretto butter sauce recipe is a great way to create a rich and decadent sauce. Simply add 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder to the recipe, and stir well until the powder has dissolved.
2. Spiced Amaretto Butter Sauce
Adding a touch of spice to the sauce is another way to give it a unique flavor. Try adding a pinch of nutmeg or allspice in addition to the cinnamon. Additionally, you can add a few drops of orange extract to the sauce to give it a citrusy twist.
3. Vegan Amaretto Butter Sauce
For those who are vegan or lactose intolerant, you can substitute the heavy cream in the recipe with a non-dairy milk such as almond or soy milk. You can also use vegan butter instead of regular butter. Just ensure that the butter substitute you use can withstand high heat without burning or separating.
Conclusion:
Amaretto butter sauce is a sweet and nutty sauce that is perfect for elevating your favorite dessert. It can be made in various ways to suit your tastes and dietary requirements. Whether you love chocolate, spice or want to go vegan, there’s a version of this sauce that’s perfect for you. By following the simple recipe above, you can enjoy this decadent sauce in no time.
