PEACH MELBA ALMOND CRISP

Peach Melba Almond Crisp image

Came up with this recipe by combining all of my favorite flavors: peach, raspberry and almond. I love a good apple crisp so I took my mom's apple crisp recipe and changed things up a bit. This combination is perfect because it's a tiny bit tart and the almond crumbles sweeten it up just enough.

When it comes to desserts, fruit crisps are always a hit. Whether you are serving guests or indulging at home, an almond peach crisp is a delectable option that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. As the name suggests, it comprises fresh or canned peaches layered with a crispy topping, consisting of oats, almonds, sugar, and butter. This tantalizing dessert is perfect for summers, and the blend of peaches and almonds creates a flavor profile that is both nutty and fruity.

Ingredients:

To make an almond peach crisp, a few essential ingredients are required-
Peaches:
The recipe calls for fresh or canned peaches. If you are using fresh peaches, ensure that they are ripe and juicy. Peel and dice them into small pieces before adding them to the mixture. Alternatively, canned peaches can also be used, but make sure they are packed in their juice and not in heavy syrup.
Oats:
Rolled oats are an essential component of the topping. You can use old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats, depending on your preference. They provide a rich and crunchy texture that compliments the soft and juicy peaches.
Almonds:
To add a nutty flavor to the crisp, almonds can be added to the oat mixture. Sliced or slivered almonds work best, as they provide a nice crunch. Alternatively, you can use almond flour for a more intense almond flavor.
Sugar:
To sweeten the filling, granulated sugar is commonly used. If you prefer a healthier alternative, you can substitute it with honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar.
Butter:
Butter is essential to form the crispy topping that covers the peaches. It adds richness and creates an indulgent flavor that balances the tartness of the fruit.

Method:

Making an almond peach crisp is quick and easy. It can be served warm or cold, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Here is a step-by-step guide to making the perfect almond peach crisp.
Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish or a similar-sized cast-iron skillet with butter.
Step 2:
Peel and dice the peaches into small pieces. In a mixing bowl, add the peaches, sugar, and lemon juice. Mix gently and set aside.
Step 3:
In a separate bowl, add the oats, flour, almonds, sugar, and melted butter. Mix thoroughly until the mixture becomes crumbly.
Step 4:
Pour the peach mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Add the oat mixture over the peaches, making sure that it is evenly distributed.
Step 5:
Bake the almond peach crisp in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the topping becomes golden brown, and the peaches are bubbling.
Step 6:
Remove the crisp from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving. You can add a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream to make it more indulgent.

Conclusion:

An almond peach crisp is a delightful dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make, and you can customize it according to your preference by adding your own toppings or substituting the ingredients. The blend of peaches and almonds creates a mouth-watering flavor that is sure to tickle your taste buds. Whether you are hosting a dinner party or looking for a sweet treat for a lazy Sunday afternoon, an almond peach crisp is always a great option.
Almond peach crisp recipe is a mouth-watering dessert that combines the sweetness of peaches and the crunchiness of almonds in one dish. It's a perfect dessert for summer gatherings, family dinners, and potluck parties. If you are planning to make this recipe, there are some valuable tips that you need to keep in mind to ensure that your peach crisp turns out delicious.

Tips:

1. Choose the right peaches:
The key to a successful almond peach crisp recipe is to pick the right peaches. You need to choose peaches that are ripe but not too soft. Look for peaches with a slight give when you gently press on them. Ripe peaches will have a sweet aroma and a rich color. If you can't find fresh peaches, you can use canned or frozen peaches, but make sure to drain them well before using.
2. Cut the peaches evenly:
When cutting the peaches, make sure to slice them evenly. Unevenly cut peaches will cook at different rates, which can result in uneven baking. Slice the peaches into thin wedges or small cubes to ensure even cooking.
3. Add lemon juice:
Adding lemon juice to the peach mixture will enhance the flavor and balance the sweetness of the peaches. Add a tablespoon or two of lemon juice to the mixture before baking for a tangy flavor.
4. Use high-quality almond extract:
Almond extract is an essential ingredient in this recipe, and it's important to use high-quality extract to get the best flavor. Look for pure almond extract in your local grocery store, and avoid imitation extract. A good quality extract will give your peach crisp a rich almond flavor.
5. Use old-fashioned oats:
For the topping, it's best to use old-fashioned oats instead of quick-cooking oats. Old-fashioned oats have a coarser texture that adds more crunch to the topping. Quick-cooking oats can result in a softer topping that may not hold its shape.
6. Add chopped almonds:
Chopped almonds add extra crunch and nutty flavor to the topping. You can use roasted or raw almonds, depending on your preference. Make sure to chop the almonds into small pieces to ensure even distribution throughout the topping.
7. Mix the topping thoroughly:
To get a crispy and crumbly topping, you need to mix the ingredients thoroughly. Using your hands, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped almonds until well combined. Add the melted butter gradually while mixing until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
8. Bake at the right temperature:
To ensure even baking, preheat your oven to 375°F before baking the peach crisp. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are tender. Avoid over-baking, which can result in burnt topping and mushy peaches.
9. Serve warm:
Almond peach crisp is best served warm right out of the oven. Top with whipped cream, ice cream or caramel sauce and enjoy this delicious dessert with your loved ones.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, almond peach crisp is a delightful dessert that's easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Choosing ripe peaches, cutting them evenly, adding lemon juice, using high-quality almond extract, using old-fashioned oats, adding chopped almonds, mixing the topping thoroughly, baking at the right temperature, and serving warm are the valuable tips that you need to keep in mind. By following these tips, you will create a delicious almond peach crisp that's sure to impress your guests.
