Steps:

  • ALEXIS'S BROWN SUGAR CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES Makes 50 four-inch cookies Alexis Stewart developed this chocolate-chip cookie recipe for her mother, Martha, when she was twelve years old. Unlike traditional, moist chewy cookies, this recipe produces very flat and crisp chocolate chip cookies. They will spread a great deal on the pan while baking. Use an ice-cream scoop to make evenly sized cookies. If cookies harden before you have a chance to remove them from the baking sheet, return the sheet to the oven for a few seconds to soften the dough for easier removal. 1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter 3 cups brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 4 large eggs 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 1/2 cups best-quality chocolate chips 1. Time 25m

Yield 24 Cookies, 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup butter (room temperature)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cream together the butter and the brown sugar.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla.
  • Add the dry ingredients until just combines.
  • Using a spoon, mix in the chocolate chips.
  • This is an optional step -- I usually make the cookie dough a day ahead of time, and leave it in the fridge overnight. I think it helps make the cookies more chewy, which is how I like them! Then when I take them out the next day to bake, sometimes I'll form the balls of dough, and roll them in chopped pecans before putting them in the oven. But these are both totally optional! The cookies are amazing either way!
  • Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 for 7-9 minutes. BUT WATCH THEM! A lot of ovens will cook them too fast on the outside, and not enough on the inside. At my boyfriend's house I will bake them at 400 for about 4-5 minutes, then lower the temp to 350 for 4-5 more minutes.
  • Let sit on the cookie sheet for about 5 minutes before moving them to a cooling rack. Enjoy!

Valuable Tips for Making Alexis's Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipes

1. Use Quality Ingredients
When making Alexis's Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies, it is essential to use quality ingredients. Use fresh butter, high-quality chocolate chips, and pure vanilla extract. Also, avoid using ingredient substitutes, as changing the ingredients can alter the cookies' texture and taste.
2. Measure Accurately
Accurate measurements are critical when making brown sugar chocolate chip cookies. Use a precise kitchen scale instead of measuring cups to ensure the ingredients are measured correctly. Inaccurate measurements can affect the consistency and texture of the cookies.
3. Chill the Dough
Chilling the dough before baking gives the cookies a chewy and dense texture. It also prevents the cookies from spreading while baking. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour before baking.
4. Use Parchment Paper or Silpat Mat
Line the baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat mat. It prevents cookies from sticking to the baking sheet, making cleanup more manageable. It also helps in even baking of the cookies.
5. Do not Overmix the Dough
Overmixing the dough leads to tough and dense cookies. Mix the dry and wet ingredients until they are just combined.
6. Don't Overbake the Cookies
Overbaking the cookies can cause them to dry out and become crunchy. Bake the cookies for approximately 12 to 15 minutes or until they are lightly golden. Remove them from the oven when they are just done and let them cool on the baking sheet for about five minutes before transferring them onto a cooling rack.
7. Add Mix-Ins Wisely
Mix-ins like nuts, dried fruits, or coconut flakes can be added to Alexis's Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies. However, they can affect the consistency of the dough. Add the mix-ins sparingly to avoid making cookies dry and crumbly.
8. Use Equal Parts of Brown and White Sugar
Using equal parts of brown and white sugar makes the cookies more flavorful and moist. The brown sugar provides the cookies with a chewy texture and a subtle caramel flavor.
9. Use Room Temperature Butter
Room temperature butter blends more easily with the other ingredients resulting in a smoother batter. Softened butter also makes it easier to cream the butter and sugars together, resulting in softer and creamier cookies.
10. Store the Cookies Correctly
Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you want to keep the cookies longer, store them in the freezer for up to three months. Thaw the cookies at room temperature before serving.

Conclusion

Alexis's Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies are a delicious treat that everyone can enjoy. These valuable tips can help you make perfect cookies that are soft and chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Remember to measure the ingredients carefully, chill the dough, and bake the cookies until they are lightly golden. With these tips, you can make delicious cookies that everyone will love.
