CLASSIC CRANBERRY MOSCOW MULE

This Cranberry Moscow Mule is a lovely Christmas sipper. Also known as a Yule Mule, this twist on the classic cocktail highlights cranberry juice! Makes 1 drink, but can easily be made into a pitcher.

2 oz. unsweetened cranberry juice (do NOT use cranberry cocktail)
1 ½ oz. vodka
1 oz. simple syrup
½ oz. lime juice, freshly squeezed
3 oz. ginger beer
Rosemary, for garnish
Cranberries, fresh or frozen, for garnish
Lime wedge, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a copper mug (or another glass that you'll serve this drink in) filled with ice, measure out the unsweetened cranberry juice, vodka, simple syrup and lime juice.
  • Top with ginger beer.
  • Stir the ingredients with a cocktail spoon until combined.
  • Enjoy immediately with a wedge of lime, a handful of cranberries and a sprig of rosemary for garnish.

A festive, red and green holiday cocktail with ginger beer, cranberry, vodka and rosemary.

4 ounces vodka
1.5 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice (about 1 lime)
4 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice (see note)
6 ounces ginger beer
4 to 6 cranberries, for garnish
rosemary sprig, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake together the vodka, lime juice and cranberry juice.
  • Fill two copper mule mugs or old-fashioned glasses with ice. Strain half of the cocktail into each glass.
  • Top each glass with ginger beer. Garnish with cranberries and a sprig of rosemary. Serve immediately.

2 ounces spice-infused vodka, such as cinnamon vodka
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce blood orange juice
1/2 ounce grenadine
Ginger beer, for topping
Fresh mint sprigs and blood orange slices, for garnish
Candied Cranberries, recipe follows, for garnish
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
3 cups fresh cranberries

Steps:

  • Fill a 20-ounce cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice. Add the vodka, lime juice, blood orange juice and grenadine. Put on the lid and shake thoroughly for 15 to 20 seconds so the flavors combine and chill with the ice.
  • Add a few ice cubes to a 16-ounce copper Moscow mule mug, if you have one, or a glass. Strain the liquid over the ice cubes. Top up the mug or glass with ginger beer. Garnish with mint sprigs, blood orange slices and Candied Cranberries.
  • Place a sheet of parchment paper on a sheet pan.
  • Pour 3/4 cup water and 3/4 cup of the sugar into a saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer on a low heat for 3 minutes. Stir to ensure the sugar has dissolved into the water and the result is a syrup consistency.
  • Add the cranberries to the pan and stir so they are covered in the syrup. Remove the pan from the heat and stir for 1 minute. Using a slotted spoon, remove the cranberries from the pan and add them to the prepared sheet pan. Allow the cranberries to cool and dry, about 1 hour.
  • Pour the remaining sugar into a bowl. Add the cranberries and toss until they are thoroughly coated in the sugar. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.

9 limes
750 ml vodka or 750 ml vanilla vodka
crushed ice
3 (750 ml) bottles ginger beer, chilled

Steps:

  • Juice 6 limes. Cut remaining 3 limes into small wedges. Pour vodka and 1 cup lime juice into a carafe or jug. Stir to combine.
  • Half-fill twelve 300ml (10 oz) capacity glasses with crushed ice. Pour over 1/3 cup vodka mixture. Top with ginger beer and lime wedges. Serve.
  • Note- You can sub ginger ale for the ginger beer, but it won't have as much kick - try Vernors if you do.
