Sangria comes out of winter hibernation in this easy-to-make holiday punch.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup brandy
1/2 cup sugar
1 orange, ends cut off, thinly sliced
1 apple, halved and thinly sliced
2 bottles well-chilled dry red wine, such as Rioja or red Zinfandel
1 cup club soda
3/4 cup fresh orange juice

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, stir together brandy, sugar, and orange and apple slices. Let stand 15 minutes. Add wine, club soda, and orange juice. Serve over ice.

6 calmyrna dried figs, sliced (light, dried)
6 dried apricots, cut into slivers (dried)
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup brandy
2 tablespoons honey
750 ml rioja wine or 750 ml merlot
10 ounces club soda

Steps:

  • In a saucepan stir together the dried fruits, brandy, and honey.
  • Cook over medium-low heat until simmering.
  • Remove from heat; cool slightly. Add wine; stir.
  • Refrigerate up to 24 hours.
  • To serve, strain sangria into a pitcher.
  • Add ice cubes and club soda; stir gently.
  • Serve and enjoy!
