ALTON BROWN'S WHITE TRASH
Alton once posted this on his website and said that he always cranks out a bushel or two of it during the holidays. He also said "Dole this stuff out carefully. It is highly habit forming." I totally agree and for this reason have no earthly idea how many servings it makes! Depends on how much you can eat! LOL Especially good to anyone who likes the salty-sweet combination. Cooking time is cooling time.

WHITE TRASH
My sister-in-law made this at Christmas-time, and everyone loved it! It's very easy to make, and makes a great snack. It also makes a great Christmas goodie to give out to friends and family. I have no idea how it got it's name....

WHITE TRASH / TRAILER TRASH
A Kitchen Daddio variation on a holiday favorite. Easy to make; easy to clean! And kids love it! Parents, try letting your kids make it themselves (with your supervision of course!). Update 12/26/06: Hat tip to "Kat's Mom" for catching a major typo! No, it should NOT have been 60 oz. of chocolate chips. It should be 16 oz!!! Try this one again, and I promise you'll enjoy it, or I'll refund you the ingredients.

Steps:
- For "WHITE TRASH," use the first four ingredients only. Or for a fun variation - add the optional chocolate chips and dry roasted peanuts to make "TRAILER TRASH!".
- Melt butter, peanut butter (and chocolate chips) together in medium sauce pan OVER LOW HEAT. Place Rice Chex (and dry roasted peanuts) in a large container (plastic salad mixing bowls with lids work great!). Pour melted mixture over Rice Chex (and peanuts) and toss, until evenly coated throughout.
- ---Kids love this part!---.
- Then pour conf. sugar over mixture (1 box at a time), place lid on container, and shake shake shake! Shake well, until all the mixture is coated with sugar. Repeat with second box.
- Serve, and enjoy!

WHITE TRASH
This salty and sweet white trash needs to come with a warning label because it's addictive. We loved the bits of Reese's Pieces throughout. It's a nice surprise pop of peanut butter flavor when you expect it to be just chocolate. A simple recipe to make for gift giving or just when you want a special snack.

WHITE TRASH PARTY MIX
This is a very yummy, sweet party mix that gets a lot of requests. I usually make two batches during the Christmas season and one during Easter and sometimes throughout the year "just for the fun of it." If it has been a while since I have taken some to work, they start reminding me it is time to make another batch. It is very addicting. This makes a huge batch. You can cut it in half, but why? I have a large (28 quart) storage container that I make it in and store it in. You can use different colored M&M's for the different seasons, or use team colors for a football party or tailgate snack.

Steps:
- Mix in large mixing bowl - your cereals, pretzels, and nuts (all of your choosing) to equal 12 cups
- Melt together slowly on stove while stirring, 1 pound of white chocolate and 1 block of parrafin wax. Once melted, drizzle over cereal and nut mixture and stir good. It does not cover all the dry ingredients, it's not meant to.
- Then, spread a white trash bag out on your table or counter and spread your mixture out over the trash bag for 45 minutes to dry. Then add your m & m's. I use a spatular/spoon to mix the candy in. Beware, this is a very addicting snack. This will make a good amount and goes a long way. I hope you enjoy this.(you don't have to use a white trashbag) lol....Use waxpaper. LOL
- Store it in a covered container. You can also line a small metal christmas can or gift bag, and fill with white trash. This makes a delicious little gift.
