My sister made this and says it tastes like Christmas. I found it on foodtv.com and wanted to save it here so I don't lose/forget it!

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 (16 ounce) bag fresh cranberries
1 cup chopped apple
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
1/2 orange, juice of
1/2 lemon, juice of
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated

Steps:

  • Combine the sugar and water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Add the cranberries and return to a boil, then lower the heat so that the liquid simmers.
  • Add the apples, walnuts, raisins, Grand Marnier, orange and lemon juices, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let the sauce cool.
  • Serve in a side bowl with turkey or any preferred holiday dish.

This Cranberry sauce is adopted from Paula Deen's recipe. It is simply delicious and we use it every time that we serve a turkey. It is also excellent in the summertime as a chutney.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
16 ounces fresh cranberries
1 cup chopped apple (granny smith work great)
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup golden raisin
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier (this gives it an orangish flavor, you may substitute rum or bourbon if you wish)
1/4 cup orange juice (or juice of 1/2 orange)
1/2 lemon, juice of
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons nutmeg, freshly grated

Steps:

  • Mix sugar and water and bring to a boil.
  • Add the cranberries and return to a boil. Reduce heat until the mixture comes to a simmer.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and let cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Let cool and serve as desired. Makes 8 half cup servings.

1 (12 ounce) bag cranberries, fresh (or frozen)
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Using a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients, & cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until cranberries burst & sauce thickens, stirring frequently.
  • Remove from heat, cover & chill.
