TEXAS CHEESE STEAK SANDWICH

Everyone loves cheesesteaks, and there are many options and many ways of making them. Well this is one I had been thinking of doing for a while, and my family just loved it, so it's a keeper and going to be going onto our table quite often.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1-2 lb ribeye or sirloin
1 poblano or ahaheim pepper, sliced
1 sweet onion, sliced
4-8 slice asadero cheese, or your fav mexican cheese
1 large ciabatta or burger buns
granulated garlic and black pepper to taste
olive oil

Steps:

  • 1. You will want your steak slice paper thin if possible. Also slice pepper and onions. Drizzle with a little olive oil and cook until onions are tender.
  • 2. Season beef with favorite seasonings, I use granulated garlic and black pepper. If cooking in a skillet remove cooked veggies and cook meat. If using a grill or griddle, move veggies to one side and place meat on and cook to doneness you prefer.
  • 3. Mix veggies and meat together and place on toasted bun with cheese. Enjoy this simple but delicious "burger".

1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons minced chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
6 slices Texas toast
6 beef cube steaks (4 ounces each)
2 cups fresh baby spinach
6 Muenster cheese slices (1/2 ounce each)
6 tomato slices

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and chipotle pepper. Heat Texas toast on a foil-lined baking sheet according to package directions. , Meanwhile, in a large skillet coated with cooking spray, cook beef in batches over medium heat until no longer pink., Layer warmed Texas toast with spinach, steaks, mayonnaise mixture, cheese and tomato. Broil 3-4 in. from the heat for 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

2 fresh Italian sandwich rolls or Kaiser buns, split in half crosswise
1 white onion, thinly sliced
1/2 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 pound rib-eye steak, very very thinly shaved or sliced
1/3 pound thinly sliced white American cheese, or Provolone cheese OR 4 ounces melted cheese whiz
Ketchup, optional topping
Italian pickled peppers, accompaniment

Steps:

  • Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. When hot add the oil, onions and bell peppers, and cook, stirring, until caramelized, about 6 minutes. Add the garlic, salt, and pepper, and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds. Push off to 1 side of the griddle.
  • Add the meat to the hot pan and cook, stirring and breaking up with the back of 2 metal spatulas, until almost no longer pink, about 2 minutes. Mix in the Sauteed vegetables. Top with cheese slices and melt. Spoon the cheesy meat mixture into the warm buns and serve immediately with condiments of choice or Put the meat in the bun and dip the spatula in the cheese whiz and then wipe the spatula down the inside of the bread.

My daughter's favorite meal and one we all look forward to. The meat can be fried up a head of time and refrigerated until needed. Then just assemble and broil as directed.

8 -10 sandwich steaks, broken into 1 inch wide strips (I use Philly Gourmet)
4 steak rolls
4 -6 slices white American cheese
4 slices provolone cheese
bell pepper, fried and canned (optional)
onion, fried (optional)

Steps:

  • Fry sandwich steaks in frying pan, stirring often.
  • When no longer pink, move to a plate lined with several paper towels.
  • Use more paper towels to press on them to help drain the excess grease.
  • On a baking sheet, lay steak or hoagie buns open flat.
  • Place sandwich steak strips on both halves.
  • Top sandwich steak with white American cheese and then provolone cheese.
  • Place under broiler about 5-6 minutes or until cheese has melted and it starting to brown.
  • Top with peppers and/or onions, if desired, and mayonnaise.

I love the bold flavor of these hearty sandwiches. They cook quickly on the grill and taste great whether they're topped with salsa or guacamole.

1 beef flank steak (1/2 pound)
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
2 French rolls, split and toasted
1/2 cup salsa or guacamole, optional

Steps:

  • Pound steak to 1/4-in. thickness. In a shallow dish, combine the onion, oil, lime juice, vinegar, garlic, chili powder, salt and cumin; add beef and turn to coat. Cover; refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. , Drain and discard marinade. Grill steak, uncovered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from heat for 3-5 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Slice meat across the grain. Serve on rolls. Top with salsa or guacamole if desired.
