4 tart green apples
½ cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Scoop out the core from top of the apple, leaving a well. Do not cut all the way through. Stuff each apple with 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1 tablespoon butter. Place in a shallow baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, until sugar begins to caramelize and apples are tender.

Very comforting warm apple side dish. This is very good in the fall and winter to go with just about any main dish. It's a real favorite with my kids and I usually have to double it to have enough.

6 cups apples (peeled & sliced)
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Steps:

  • Grease an 8x8" baking dish with butter.
  • Put the apples in the dish.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients and sprinkle on top of the apples.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until the apples are soft.

1 cup water
4 green tea bags (Lipton is good)
4 large baking apples, cored (Rome or Golden Delicious is good)
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
2 tablespoons raisins (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 teaspoons butter or 4 teaspoons margarine

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350*F.
  • In a 1 quart saucepan, bring water to a boil; remove from heat.
  • Add tea bags and brew 1 1/2 minutes, dunking occasionally.
  • Remove tea bags and squeeze; set aside.
  • Peel top one-third of each apple.
  • In an 8-inch square baking dish, arrange apples, peeled end up; set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, walnuts, raisins and cinnamon.
  • Evenly spoon walnut mixture into center of apples, then evenly top with butter.
  • Pour tea over and around apples.
  • Bake apples uncovered, basting occasionally, 1 hour or until tender.
  • Enjoy!
