EASIEST BAKED TOFFEE



Easiest Baked Toffee image

Had some of this at my sister's house on Thanksgiving. Yummy stuff and so easy.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 c butter, room temperature
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
2 1/2 c nuts, finely chopped (walnuts, pecans, almonds, etc)
1 c semi sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Butter a 9 x 13 pan.
  • 2. Place butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir in 2 cups of the nuts reserving 1/2 cup for topping. Pour into prepared pan and bake 15 minutes.
  • 3. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and let melt. Spread melted chips over the surface of the baked mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining nuts. Let cool and break into bite sized pieces. Store in airtight container in a cool place.

No one can eat just one of these treats! We have made these with Zesta whole wheat crackers and are just as good!

Number Of Ingredients 5

40 - soda crackers
3/4 cup(s) butter
3/4 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
2 cup(s) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup(s) chopped pecans or walnuts

Steps:

  • Put a piece of parchment paper in a 15x10 rimmed pan. Put a layer (40) soda crackers on the paper.
  • Boil the butter and sugar together for 2 minutes. Pour over the crackers. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Take out of the oven, sprinkle with the chocolate chips on the top. Spread as they melt. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate. Chill in refrigerator. Break into pieces, store in covered container in the refrigerator.
