SUNRISE BREAKFAST CASSEROLE (PREPARED NIGHT BEFORE)



Sunrise Breakfast Casserole (Prepared Night Before) image

A Johnsonville recipe that we served this at my sister's wedding brunch, this is a great breakfast prepared the night before. Especially good for morning entertaining. Prep time does not include overnight refrigeration. Cooking time includes sausage cooking.

2 (12 ounce) packages johnsonville original breakfast sausage links
9 eggs
3 cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 (20 ounce) packages refrigerated shredded hash browns
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (8 oz)
1/2 cup sweet red pepper, diced
1/3 cup green onion, thinly sliced
2 cups salsa (optional, we did not use this) (optional) or 2 cups picante sauce (optional, we did not use this) (optional)

Steps:

  • Put sausage on a 15x10x1 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until the sausage is no longer pink (turning once). Drain, then slice into 1/4 inch coins.
  • In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, mustard, salt and pepper. Add the hash browns, sausage, cheese, sweet red pepper and green onions. Mix well.
  • Pour into a greased 13x9x2 inch baking dish, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes prior to baking. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 65-70 minutes or until set and golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve with salsa or picante sauce, if you like.

2 (12 ounce) packages Johnsonville Original Recipe Ground Breakfast Sausage
9 eggs
3 cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 (30 ounce) package frozen country-style hash browns, thawed
2 cups shredded 4-cheese Mexican blend cheese
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
1/3 cup thinly sliced green onion
salsa (optional) or picante sauce (optional)

Steps:

  • Arrange sausages on an ungreased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan.
  • Bake at 375ºF for 15-20 minutes, turning links once or until sausage is cooked through and lightly browned; drained.
  • Allow to cool slightly.
  • Slice sausage into 1/4 -inch coins.
  • In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk and seasonings.
  • Add sausage, hash browns, cheese, bell pepper and onions.
  • Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish.

1 pound bulk pork sausage
2 cups biscuit/baking mix
1-1/3 cups 2% milk
2 large eggs
1/4 cup canola oil
2 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar
Maple syrup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook and crumble sausage until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes; drain. Mix biscuit mix, milk, eggs and oil until blended; stir in sausage. Transfer biscuit mixture to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with apples; sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake until set, 30-45 minutes. Serve with syrup., To make ahead: Refrigerate, covered, several hours or overnight. To use, preheat oven to 350°. Remove casserole from refrigerator; uncover and let stand while oven heats. 2 can(s) 12 fl. oz. each) nestlÉ® carnation® evaporated milk
8 large eggs, beaten
1 pound(s) precooked sausage links, cut into ¼-inch slices
2 cup(s) (8-oz. pkg.) shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup(s) chopped red pepper
2 - green onions (green parts only), sliced (if i dont have green onions, i chop a small sweet onion.
1/2 teaspoon(s) onion powder
1/4 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
8 cup(s) 1/2-inch cubed italian or french bread (about 9 slices)

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350º F. Grease 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  • Combine milk, eggs, sausage, cheese, red pepper, green onions, onion powder and garlic powder in large bowl. Add bread cubes, stirring gently to moisten bread. Pour mixture into baking dish.
