Top Secret Recipe Version, from Todd Wilbur. The rim of the glass on the real thing is dipped in green sugar crystals usually used for cake decorating. It can be skipped if you don't feel like buying it.

1 1/4 ounces jose cuervo gold tequila
1/2 ounce triple sec
4 ounces prepared sweet-and-sour mix
1 1/4 ounces amaretto liqueur
lime wedge
orange wedge
green sugar crystals

Steps:

  • Moisten the rim of a margarita glass and dip it in green sugar crystals. Or skip this step if you prefer.
  • Fill the glass with ice. Add tequila, triple sec, and sweet and sour mix.
  • Serve with a shot of amaretto on the side, and garnish with a lime wedge and orange wedge on the rim.
  • ( I don't know if you are supposed to add the amaretto to the drink once it is served, but whenever I go to Olive Garden I mix the shot of amaretto with the margarita and I think it tastes great).

SUE'S ITALIAN MARGARITAS

Sue's Italian Margaritas image

This refreshing margarita has citrus undertones and is the perfect mix of sweet and sour. It's actually a little on the sweet side. Amaretto is a special touch and gives this typically Mexican drink a little Italian flair. If you use the ingredients Susan recommends, you'll have the perfect cocktail. Cheers!

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 oz José Cuervo tequila
2 oz triple sec
1 oz amaretto
2 oz Rose's lime juice
4 oz Mountain Dew
margarita salt
ice cubes

Steps:

  • 1. HINT:#1 Do NOT use any other lime juice or soda other than listed. You will not get the awesome taste of my recipe. I tried it and it doesn't taste good. HINT:#2 The recipe above is enough for 2-3 drinks depending on the size of glass used. I usually double the recipe that way you will have more for refills.
  • 2. Mix together the first 5 ingredients in a blender. (If you double the ingredients then pour out half into a pitcher or you will have a mess.)
  • 3. Add a couple large handfuls or a little more of ice cubes and blend/crush.
  • 4. You will have small chunks of ice which is good. (If you doubled the recipe then repeat the process.)
  • 5. Place margarita salt onto a small plate and wet the rims of your glass with the margarita liquid or water.
  • 6. Dip into the salt.
  • 7. Pour your drink. Sit back and enjoy how easy it goes down.
