Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 golden delicious apples, peeled and chopped ((other varieties can be used, can also be sliced))
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon, (divided)
1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup old fashioned oats
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced into small cubes
pinch of kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. Butter an 8x8 baking dish, or spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, add chopped apples, granulated sugar, 3/4 tsp of the cinnamon and lemon juice. Stir to combine, then transfer to prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, add topping ingredients (brown sugar, oats, flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, salt, and diced cold butter). Use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the oat mixture, using a slight downward twisting motion, until mixture resembled pea-sized crumbs. Alternatively, you can use two forks or even your hands to cut butter into the mixture.
  • Spread topping over apples in baking dish, and gently pat to even it out. Bake 40-50 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

1/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold, cut into small cubes
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick-cooking)

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Cut butter into flour, using a pastry blender or two knives, until mixture is the texture of coarse meal. Add oats, and use your hands to toss and squeeze mixture until large, moist clumps form. Transfer to freezer to chill while you prepare apples.
  • In another large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Transfer to a shallow 2-quart baking dish, and sprinkle with topping mixture. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup apple cider
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 pounds Granny Smith apples
2 pounds Honeycrisp apples
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (see Cook's Note)
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/2 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 sticks (1 cup) cold unsalted butter, cubed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.

  • Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
