An easy, healthy strawberry basil mocktail. Make for 1 or a crowd. Combines strawberries, fresh basil, a hint of lime and sparkling water.

3 medium strawberries
4-6 basil leaves
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon sweetener of choice
1 cup sparkling water

Steps:

  • DIRECTIONS
  • Muddle strawberries, basil, lime, and sweetener in glass for about 1 minute. See above for suggestions on what to use if you don't have a muddler.
  • Top with sparkling water and stir gently.
  • Add ice and garnish.

6 fresh strawberries, sliced
12 fresh basil leaves
1/4 cup sugar
Ice cubes
1/3 cup lemon juice
2-1/4 cups club soda, chilled
Additional fresh basil leaves, optional

Steps:

  • In a shaker, muddle strawberries, basil and sugar. Fill shaker three-fourths full with ice; add lemon juice. Cover and shake 10-15 seconds or until condensation forms on outside of shaker. Strain into six rock glasses filled with ice. Top with club soda and, if desired, additional basil leaves.

I make this recipe with fresh-picked strawberries and basil grown in my own herb garden. This unique sweet and savory jam makes a perfect gift-just add a bright ribbon around the top with a gift tag! Number Of Ingredients 5

5 cups crushed strawberries (about 3 pounds)
1 teaspoon butter
1 package (1-3/4 ounces) powdered fruit pectin
7 cups sugar
1/2 cup minced fresh basil

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, combine strawberries and butter. Stir in pectin. Bring to a full rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Stir in sugar; return to a full rolling boil. Boil and stir 1 minute. Immediately stir in basil., Remove from heat; skim off foam. Ladle hot mixture into 9 hot half-pint jars, leaving 1/4-in. headspace. Remove air bubbles and adjust headspace, if necessary, by adding hot mixture. Wipe rims. Center lids on jars; screw on bands until fingertip tight., Place jars into canner with simmering water, ensuring that they are completely covered with water. Bring to a boil; process for 10 minutes. Remove jars and cool.

3/4 to 1 cup ice cubes
2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce club soda
1 teaspoon simple syrup
1 teaspoon cranberry juice
Pinch pepper

Steps:

  • In a shaker, muddle strawberries and basil. Fill shaker three-fourths full with ice. Add the remaining ingredients; cover and shake 10-15 seconds or until condensation forms on outside of shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
