4L/16 cups of apple cider (or non-alcoholic substitute)
1L cranberry juice
1L orange juice
4 sticks of cinnamon
1 tablespoon all spice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon whole cloves
0.5 teaspoon nutmeg
2cm finely grated ginger
2 sliced oranges
0.5L/2 cups dark rum
Garnish - optional cinnamon sticks

Steps:

  • Warm all of the ingredients in a large saucepan and heat over a medium/low heat for 30 minutes
  • Serve warm or transfer to a large drinks urn for serving

Wassail is a classic warm holiday drink made for a crowd. It's non-alcoholic however can easily be spiked with bourbon or rum to suit your tastes!

2 quarts (8 cups) Sweet Apple Cider
5 cups Pineapple Juice
2 cups No-Pulp Orange Juice
1 cup Lemon Juice
1 Cinnamon Stick
1 teaspoon Whole Cloves
2-3 ounces Red Hots or Cinnamon Imperials (Baking Decorations)

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a low simmer and allow to simmer for 20-30 minutes for the flavors to blend.
  • Strain into serving mugs and serve warm.

An easy recipe for the traditional holiday drink. If you don't have a tea ball, place spice mixture on a small piece of cheesecloth and tie with a string, forming a small pouch.

2 gallons apple cider
2 cups fresh orange juice
1 cup lemon juice
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces

Steps:

  • Mix apple cider, orange juice, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and sugar together in a large pot over medium-low heat.
  • Place cloves and cinnamon in a tea ball; add ball to the apple cider mixture. Simmer mixture until warmed through, about 15 minutes. Serve from pot with large ladle.
