Super easy and a huge hit! I make this spiced cranberry sauce every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tart and spicy! The spices just add to the overall holiday feel of the dish.

¾ cup orange juice
¼ cup water
1 cup white sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 dash ground cloves
1 dash ground nutmeg
1 dash ground allspice
1 (12 ounce) bag fresh cranberries

Steps:

  • Heat orange juice and water in a saucepan over medium heat until warm, about 3 minutes. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Mix in cinnamon stick, cloves, nutmeg, and allspice. Add cranberries and cook, stirring occasionally, until they pop, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and pour sauce into a bowl. Cover and refrigerate, 8 hours to overnight.

One 14-ounce can cranberry sauce, chilled
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 tablespoon port
1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme, plus 1 sprig, for garnish
Zest of 1/2 orange plus juice of 1 orange

Steps:

  • Tip the cranberry sauce into a bowl, add the maple syrup, port, chopped thyme and orange zest and juice and stir through. Garnish with a sprig of thyme.

1 package (12 ounces) fresh or frozen cranberries
1-3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt

  • In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until the berries pop and mixture is thickened, about 30 minutes. Cool. Transfer to a serving bowl; cover and refrigerate until chilled.

Great tasting sauce with just a good hint of spice and tartness. I make this for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year and always hope to have some leftover just for me and the turkey! Try it and you won't regret it.

1 pkg whole fresh cranberries, 12oz.
1 c sugar
1 c water
1/4 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/8 tsp ginger powder
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp salt
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium sauce pan combine all ingredients.
  • 2. Bring to a boil on stove then reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes til all berries have popped open. Mixture will thicken while cooking, remove from heat & cool.
  • 3. Pour in sealable containers and keep in refrigerator. Sauce will thicken naturally when cooled. Enjoy

2 -3 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar (or to taste)
2 cinnamon sticks (3-inch)
6 whole cloves
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (or to taste)
3/4 cup water (I use orange juice instead of water)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer, covered, stirring occasionally for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the mixture has thickened. (I put the cloves in a tea diffuser for easier removal and usually cook the sauce a little longer than the time given.).
  • Transfer the sauce to a bowl and let cool.
  • The sauce may be made 2 days in advance and kept covered and chilled.
  • Serve at room temperature.
