6 granny smith apples
2 bags soft caramels, unwrapped
1 (11 ounce) bag dove promises milk chocolate candies, unwrapped
1 (13 ounce) bag Snickers miniature candy bars, unwrapped
2 tablespoons water
6 wooden craft sticks

Steps:

  • Wash apples and dry thoroughly.
  • Stick the wooden sticks into the bottom of each apple.
  • Combine the caramels and water in a large glass container (approximately large enough to hold 4 cups) for 1-2 minutes in the microwave.
  • Stir occasionally until smooth.
  • Layer the bottom of a large cookie sheet with waxed paper.
  • Dip each apple in caramel mixture and ensure it is thoroughly coated, rolling it in the mixture.
  • Place on waxed paper and refrigerate for 10 minutes or until set.
  • Chop snickers up into medium to small bits, and spread out on waxed paper.
  • Place milk chocolates in the microwave for about 15 seconds to melt.
  • Stir until smooth.
  • Dip apples into the chocolate (may dip half or the whole apple).
  • Roll apple in the snickers bits.
  • Refrigerate until firm.
  • *Can substitute M&M's, peanuts, coconut, mini chocolate chips etc. for the snickers

I first sampled this salad at a chili cook-off - perfect! This is a real hit at fall parties. I like to use a mix of green and red apples.

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 (2 1/4 ounce) Snickers candy bars, chill and chop
6 apples, cored and chopped into bite sized pieces (Granny Smith and or or Red Delicious)
1 (12 ounce) container Cool Whip
1 (5 ounce) box instant vanilla pudding (NO milk, use dry mix, DO NOT prepare!) or 1 (5 ounce) box butterscotch pudding mix (NO milk, use dry mix, DO NOT prepare!)
1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping (optional) or 1/2 cup caramel apple dip (optional)
1/2 cup chopped peanuts, can also sprinkled on top (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix cool whip and dry pudding mix together.
  • Chop apples and chilled Snickers.
  • Mix together.
  • Heat caramel sauce a bit in the microwave- just enough to drizzle, not enough to heat up salad.
  • Drizzle caramel sauce over salad and sprinkle peanuts on top.
  • Chill for at least an hour-- Voila!
