1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon olive oil
3 to 3 1/2 lb cut-up frying chicken
1 large onion, sliced
1 medium bulb garlic (about 20 cloves)

Steps:

  • In small bowl, mix salt, paprika, pepper and oil to form paste; spread evenly over each piece of chicken.
  • In 5- to 6-quart slow cooker, place onion slices. Arrange chicken over onion. Separate garlic into cloves; do not peel cloves. Place garlic cloves around chicken.
  • Cover; cook on Low setting 7 to 8 hours.
  • With slotted spoon, remove chicken, onion and garlic from slow cooker; place on serving platter. Squeeze garlic cloves to use cooked garlic on mashed potatoes, vegetables or bread.

6 medium red potatoes, cut into chunks
4 medium carrots, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
2 to 4 tablespoons mashed potato flakes, optional

Steps:

  • Place potatoes and carrots in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Top with chicken. Combine soups and garlic salt; pour over chicken., Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until meat and vegetables are tender. To thicken, stir potato flakes into the gravy and cook 30 minutes longer, if desired.

1 cup frozen small whole onions (from 1-lb bag), thawed

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 jar (12 oz) chicken gravy
1 1/2 cups frozen Cascadian Farm™ sweet peas, thawed

Steps:

I found this on a card supplied at the butcher's counter at Harris Teeter Grocery. The only change I made was to omit the marjoram leaves due to personal preference but I've added it back to the recipe as an option here. If you don't have bone-in chicken breasts you can use bone-in chicken thighs (about 10 thighs or 3 1/2 lbs). Remember to remove the skin of the chicken and any really visible fat deposits.

6 slices bacon, diced
1/2 cup sweet onion, chopped
1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
1/4 cup red bell pepper, chopped (optional)
5 cups water
2 cups uncooked wild rice, rinsed and drained
2 (10 3/4 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup (or may use cream of mushroom soup)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2-1 teaspoon dried marjoram (optional)
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
3 lbs bone-in skinless chicken breast halves, remove skin and visible fat from chicken

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Add onion, celery and red bell pepper to skillet and cook & stir until tender.
  • Remove to a large bowl and blend the veggies/bacon mixture, water and all other ingredients (EXCEPT chicken) together.
  • Place chicken into a lightly sprayed slow cooker and pour rice mixture over the chicken - mixing well.

3 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
2 ¼ cups water
1 cup milk
4 cups long grain and wild rice mix
1 (16 ounce) package baby carrots

  • Spray the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray.

4 bone-in chicken thighs
cooking oil
1 1/2 lbs Yukon gold potatoes, diced
1 pound green beans, ends snipped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce (not paste)
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme Coupons
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
6-quart or larger

Steps:

  • Set a pan on the stove top and set to medium high heat. Add enough cooking oil to coat the bottom of the pan. When the oil is hot, brown the chicken on both sides, you don't need to cook the meat through. Add the diced potatoes and green beans to the bottom of the slow cooker, toss them together to combine them. Add the chicken thighs on top of the potatoes and green beans. Add the garlic. Drizzle over the tomato sauce, then sprinkle over the salt, pepper, thyme and rosemary. Take a spatula and smear around the sauce trying to combine the seasoning into the sauce. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 1/2 hours. Do no open the lid during the cooking time or the potatoes will not get tender. Serve and enjoy!
