Time 7h20m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (32 fluid ounce) container beef broth
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic
¼ large onion, chopped
¼ large onion, sliced
1 (2 pound) beef rump roast
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 cups cooked brown rice

Steps:

  • Mix beef broth, mushroom soup with roasted garlic, chopped onion, and sliced onion together in a slow cooker until thoroughly combined; place the beef rump roast into the soup mixture, cover the cooker, and cook on Low until beef is very tender, at least 7 hours.
  • One hour before serving time, remove the roast from the cooker and cut into bite-size pieces; remove and strain 2 cups of beef broth and set aside. Return beef pieces to the slow cooker.
  • Melt butter in a heavy skillet over medium heat and stir in flour to make a paste. Reduce heat to low and cook and stir the flour mixture until it bubbles and turns golden brown, about 15 minutes. Watch carefully because the mixture burns easily. Whisk about 1/4 cup of the reserved beef broth into flour mixture at a time and bring gravy to a simmer.
  • To serve, spoon brown rice onto serving plates and top with beef pieces; pour gravy over beef.

SLOW COOKER BEEF TIPS AND RICE-GLUTEN FREE!

Slow cooker beef tips and rice-gluten free! image

I have a love for beef and so does my family. This is a quick and easy way to make a meal, keep the family full and satisfied and especially in the summertime using the crockpot keeps the heat out of the kitchen! I use gluten free gravy but you can definitely use any kind of gravy you'd like. I have even used cornstarch! But, it...

Provided by Kristi Martin

Categories     Beef

Time 8h20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

3-5 lb boneless chuck roast
1-2 box beef broth, reduced sodium
2-3 tsp salt
1-2 tsp pepper
1-2 tsp garlic powder
1-2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp rosemary, dried
2 pkg brown gravy mix-i use mccormick or pioneer
2 c rice or egg noodles

Steps:

  • 1. The night before, trim roast by cutting away as much fat as possible
  • 2. Cut roast into bite size cubes
  • 3. Add all dry ingredients to the cubed meat inside a gallon size ziplock bag and toss until all the meat is coated. Refrigerate meat (I prepare the night before to let it marinate overnight)
  • 4. The next morning around 9 am to serve at 5 pm, Pour the beef broth into your crockpot and slowly add your roast being careful not to splatter. I like to add a little rosemary to the broth also.
  • 5. Stir the meat until it's all submerged into the broth and place the lid. Cook on low setting for 8 hours.
  • 6. At around the 7 hour mark, add your gluten free gravy mix to cool water and whisk until it's all combined. Pour into crockpot and stir. Place the lid and continue cooking for the remaining hour.
  • 7. Boil rice or noodles during the last 30 minutes. (I use boil-in-bag rice because I am rice challenged and well, I'm also lazy. But, you can fix your rice anyway you'd like. I've also used egg noodles too and that's just as good!)
  • 8. When your beef tips are finished, stir briskly with a fork or whisk to loosen up the meat. When all of the meat is shredded, add in your rice or noodles and stir. Voilà!! It's ready! I usually serve with my "famous" green beans and honey/cinnamon carrots with this meal.

SLOW-COOKER MEXICAN BEEF TIPS

slow-cooker mexican beef tips image

family loves this, especially after a long day and they come in and smell it cooking

Provided by lorena antonsen

Categories     Beef

Time 8h30m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 1/2 lb extra-lean beef tips for stew
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder1
2 - 14oz can(s) cans mexican-style stewed

Steps:

  • 1. Place beef tips in bottom of a 5-quart or larger slow cooker. Sprinkle spices over beef. Add both cans of tomatoes, with their juice, pouring them directly over the tips. Cover slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Stir well, and serve immediately, or store according to directions in the note below. Makes about 10 cups beef and liquid. Note: The beef will hold on low in the slow cooker for up to two hours before serving. Or prepare beef completely up to 48 hours ahead and refrigerate. Then re-warm on the stovetop over medium-low heat for 15 minutes or until heated through, or re-warm in the slow cooker on low for 45 minutes to an hour or until heated through. You may cook the beef completely and freeze it (with cooking liquid) in an airtight container for two to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and reheat according to the directions above. This is perfect for dinner served over rice, but the quantity and adaptability makes it great for future lunches (or dinners) down the road. Here's a short list of the possibilities for the moist, flavorful beef for lunch at the office or dinner: *Over shredded lettuce for taco salad (with or without the shell and all the normal taco fixings.) *As a filling with Monterey Jack cheese for quesadillas. *As a topping for nachos or tostadas. *Filling for burritos or tacos (soft or crunchy). *As a filling for a Mexican version of a Philly cheese- steak sandwich paired with Monterey Jack cheese.

SLOW COOKER BEEF TIPS AND GRAVY

Slow Cooker Beef Tips and Gravy image

Slow Cooker Beef Tips and Gravy is an easy recipe that is super comforting and flavorful. It is perfect anytime, but we especially love it when the weather starts to change and we start craving comfort food that makes you feel all warm and cozy like snuggling up under a fluffy blanket next to a fire.

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 1/2 pounds Certified Angus Beef® brand beef round chunks
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 yellow onion, sliced (about 1 cup)
5-6 whole garlic cloves, peeled
1 sprig of fresh thyme
1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
8 ounces white mushrooms, sliced
pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 tablespoon beef base (I use Better Than Bouillon)
1 tablespoon red wine
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Steps:

  • Season beef tips with 1 teaspoon kosher salt and 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over mid-high heat and add the seasoned beef tips to the hot skillet. Allow the beef to sear about 4 minutes on each side. You want a nice caramelized coating on the beef. Place seared beef tips in the slow cooker and top with 1 cup of sliced yellow onions and about 5-6 whole garlic cloves (peeled), along with a sprig of fresh thyme. Reduce the heat of the skillet to medium and melt 1/2 tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet with a pinch of salt and stir to coat in the butter. Saute for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms soften and start to release their juices (sweat). Stir occasionally scraping the brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Add 1 1/2 cups water and 1/2 tablepoons beef base to the skillet and stir to combine. Add this mixture to the slow cooker with the beef tips. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for about 5 hours or on high for about 2 1/2 hours until the beef is fork tender. You want the beef to melt in your mouth, so cook longer if needed. Once the beef is tender, combine 1 tablespoon red wine with 1 tablespoon cornstarch and add to the slow cooker. Turn heat up to high and cook about 20 minutes until the gravy is thickened. Alternately, you can add the gravy to a skillet over medium heat and add the cornstarch/red wine mixture to the gravy and heat until thickened which will only take a minute or two. Serve over mashed potatoes and enjoy!
