3/4 cup ketchup
1/3 cup orange juice
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup water
2.5 tablespoons cornstarch
8-10 chicken drumsticks

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, stir together all the ingredients except the chicken.
  • Place chicken in a large slow cooker set on low heat.
  • Pour the ketchup mixture over the chicken, using a spoon to make sure all the chicken is coated.
  • Cook for 5-6 hours on low or until chicken is fully cooked.
  • After chicken is cooked, you can serve as is or take 2 cups of the bbq sauce/cooking liquid and heat in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer until it's thickened to your liking.

Number Of Ingredients 14

Ingredients:
2 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon dried parsley
½ tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
4 pounds skil-on (bone-in chicken drumsticks)
1 ½ cups barbecue sauce of choice
Vegetable oil spray

Steps:

  • In a small bowl mix together sugar, paprika, mustard, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper. Set aside.
  • Trim and pat chicken drumsticks dry.
  • Rub seasoning mix all over the chicken until it is well coated.
  • Put chicken in a 5 quart slow cooker, and pour ½ a cup of barbecue sauce over the top.
  • Cover and cook until chicken is tender 4 to 6 hours on low.
  • Position your oven rack 10 inches from the broiler.
  • Preheat oven to broil on high. Line a baking sheet with foil, and place a wire rack over the top. Spray rack with cooking spray.
  • Take chicken out of slow cooker, and place on the rack over the lined cooking sheet. Discard and cooking liquid in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Brush chicken with ½ cup of barbecue sauce, and broil until crisp (10-15 minutes)
  • Flip the chicken over and brush with the remaining sauce. Broil for another 5-10 minutes.
  • Serve.

cooking spray
5 pounds chicken drumsticks
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
1 cup barbeque sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Grease a baking pan with cooking spray.
  • Arrange chicken drumsticks on the baking pan. Sprinkle Cajun seasoning, poultry seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper over chicken. Sprinkle flour on top. Spray cooking spray over chicken. Cover baking pan with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until juices run clear, about 2 1/2 hours. Uncover and spread barbeque sauce evenly over chicken.
  • Continue baking, uncovered, until chicken is tender and falling off the bone, about 30 minutes more.
