I got this recipe from a dear friend yrs ago...when we wanted something ooey gooey and bad for us...this is what we made! It's like a caramelly toffee center, mmmmmm These are always the first to disappear on the holiday goodie trays...course I don't usually have many left to put on the tray...lol

bottom layer:
2 c flour
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c butter, softened
1 c pecan halves
filling:
3/4 c brown sugar
1 c butter
top:
1 c chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. combine flour, brown sugar, butter. Pat into a 9x13 pan, sprinkle with pecans, set aside.
  • 2. To prepare caramel layer; In a heavy pan, combine brown sugar and butter, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly and fairly fast to incorporate the butter into the brown sugar. Continue this until mixture begins to boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Pour over crust. Bake at 350 for 20-23 minutes or until caramel is bubbly and crust golden. Remove from oven, and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Allow chips to melt slightly then swirl over top! When almost cool, cut into 1 1/2" squares...or in my sons case, 6x6" chunks lol

14 oz caramels
1/3 c evaporated milk
1 box cake mix, german chocolate
3/4 c butter, melted
1/3 c evaporated milk
1 c nuts
1 c chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Mix together cake mix, butter, and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Spread 1/2 of the cake mixture in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 6 minutes. Sprinkle nuts and chocolate chips over baked cake. Drizzle caramel over nuts and chocolate chips. Crumble and pat on the remaining cake mixture and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and while hot, cut into into 18 - 24 pieces. Delicious served warm. Let cool completely before storing in covered container.

History of Baking again. Boy do I like this cook book. These bars have cashews in them. Again I haven't made them but can hardly wait.

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 (6 ounce) package butterscotch chips
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 cup cashews

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix the first four ingredients together.
  • Sprinkle mixture evenly, and press firmly, into the bottom of a 13 x 9 baking pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes and remove from oven.
  • Melt butterscotch chips, butter, and corn syrup together.
  • Pour over baked crust, sprinkle on cashews. Cool and cut into squares.

1 pkg (16.5 oz) refrigerated chocolate chip cookies
1 bag(s) (11.5 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
1 pkg (18 oz.) caramel apple dip (1-1/2 cups)
3 c rice chex cereal
1 c chopped pecans

Steps:

  • 1. Break up the cookie dough and, with floured fingers, press evenly into the bottom of an ungreased 9x13-inch pan. This forms the crust.
  • 2. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until light golden. Cool for 15 minutes.
  • 3. While crust is baking, in a large saucepan, melt 1 cup of the chips and 1 cup of the dip over medium heat, stirring constantly, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal and pecans.
  • 4. Spread the cereal mixture over the cooled crust. In a small saucepan, heat the remaining chips and dip over medium heat, stirring constantly, till melted and smooth. Spread this over the cereal mixture.
  • 5. Refrigerate until the top chocolate mixture is set, about 30 minutes. Cut into 6 rows by 6 rows, and store tightly covered. Enjoy!
