These are the best chocolate chip cookies ever because of their unusualness. This cookie combines oats, nuts, spices, and chocolate, all for a wonderful and savory treat!

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon mace
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon powdered clove
1 cup softened butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup corn flakes
3 cups quick-cooking raw oatmeal
1 cup flaked coconut
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F and grease cookie sheets.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until smooth.
  • Mix in milk, vanilla, and beaten eggs.
  • One at a time, stir in the cornflakes, oats, dry ingredients (from medium bowl), coconut, chocolate chips, and walnuts (if using), just until each addition is incorporated.
  • Drop dough by well rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes, then let stand for 2 minutes before removing to let cool on baking racks.

1 cup(s) butter
1 cup(s) brown sugar, packed
1-1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 tablespoon(s) milk
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
2 - eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup(s) crushed corn flakes
3 cup(s) oats, uncooked, rolled
1-1/2 cup(s) flour
1-1/4 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1 teaspoon(s) salt
2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon(s) cloves, ground
1/2 cup(s) flaked coconut
2 cup(s) chocolate chips
1 cup(s) chopped toasted walnuts or pecans

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and both sugars and beat in milk, vanilla and eggs. Stir in corn flakes and oatmeal.
  • In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients and gradually add to cookie mixture. Stir in coconut, chocolate chips and nuts.
  • On baking sheet, drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Let stand 2 minutes before removing from cookie sheet to let cool on baking racks.
