10 cups plain popped popcorn, unsalted
1 ½ cups chow mein noodles
1 cup honey roasted peanuts
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ½ teaspoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce, or to taste
1 teaspoon ground ginger

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • Combine popcorn, chow mein noodles, and peanuts in a large bowl.
  • Whisk butter, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, Sriracha, and ginger together in a small bowl. Drizzle the butter mixture over the popcorn, tossing to evenly coat. Distribute evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through. Remove baking sheet from oven. Set aside to cool before storing in an airtight container.

Spicy Asian Sesame Peanuts with Popcorn image

This spicy, salty, crunchy blend of chilies, peanuts and popcorn is one addictive snack.

2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons finely grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon five-spice powder
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Kosher salt
Vegetable or canola oil, for the baking sheet
1 large egg white
4 cups unsalted raw peanuts
1 1/2 cups popcorn
3 tablespoons crushed dried chilies

Steps:

  • For the Asian sesame spice blend: Mix together the sesame seeds, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, five-spice powder, red pepper flakes and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt in a small bowl and set aside.
  • For the nuts: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly oil a rimmed baking sheet with the oil.
  • Put the egg white in a large bowl and whisk until frothy. Add the peanuts and toss to coat in the egg white. Add the spice blend and toss to coat.
  • Spread the nut mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet.
  • For the assembly: Stir the popcorn and chilies into the peanuts and transfer to a large bowl.

SESAME-GINGER POPCORN SNACK



Sesame-Ginger Popcorn Snack image

Give popcorn an Asian flair with ginger, sesame and Wasabi.

8 cups unsalted unbuttered popped popcorn
2 cups sesame sticks
1 cup cashew halves or slivered almonds
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon grated gingerroot
1 cup wasabi dried green peas

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 250°F. In broiler pan, mix popcorn, sesame sticks and nuts.
  • In small bowl, mix butter, soy sauce, lime juice, oil and gingerroot. Pour over popcorn mixture; toss to coat.
  • Bake uncovered 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until dry and crisp. Spread on paper towels to cool. Add green peas. Store tightly covered at room temperature.
