These zesty burgers are bursting with flavor. Taco seasoning, peppers, and pepperjack cheese give ground beef a boost. Then the patties are served up on buns with sour cream and salsa. A fun twist on barbecued burgers!

2 pounds ground beef
1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
½ cup chopped onion
4 slices pepperjack cheese
2 tablespoons salsa
2 tablespoons sour cream
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, taco seasoning mix, bell pepper and onion using your hands. Form into 6 patties.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Cook burger patties for 5 minutes per side, or until well done. Place buns cut side down onto the grill to toast during the last minute or so. Top each burger with a slice of cheese before removing from the grill. Serve burgers on toasted buns topped with salsa and sour cream.

1 lb ground beef
1 package (1 oz) Old El Paso™ mild taco seasoning mix
2 tablespoons grated onion
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper
1 cup crushed corn chips
4 slices cheddar jack cheese
4 hamburger buns
Lettuce, tomato, sour cream and salsa, for topping

Steps:

  • Heat a gas or charcoal grill.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, taco seasoning, grated onion and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Add in the crushed tortilla chips and lightly combine. Shape the mixture into 4 patties.
  • Place the patties on the grill over medium heat. Close grill and cook, turning once, until desired doneness - about 10 minutes for medium. Top each patty with the cheese and cook just until the cheese melts.
  • Layer the buns with sour cream, a patty, lettuce, tomato and salsa.

heavy-duty aluminum foil
1 pound lean ground beef
½ cup plain bread crumbs
¼ cup milk
2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
2 baking potatoes, peeled and diced
1 cup salsa
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate. Cut four 12x18-inch sheets of aluminum foil.
  • Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, and taco seasoning mix together in a medium bowl until well blended. Shape into four 4-inch patties. Mix potatoes and salsa in another medium bowl.
  • Place 1 patty onto each piece of foil and top with 1/4 of the potato mixture and 1/4 of the Cheddar cheese. Wrap each packet securely using double-fold seals, allowing room for heat expansion.
  • Place packets, seam-side up, on the preheated grill. Cover the grill and cook, rearranging the packets several times, until patties are cooked through and potatoes are tender, about 25 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (71 degrees C).

1/2 cup Old El Paso™ Thick 'n Chunky salsa
1/4 cup Progresso™ plain bread crumbs
3/4 cup shredded hot pepper Monterey Jack cheese (3 oz)
6 burger buns, split, toasted
6 tomato slices
6 avocado slices
6 tablespoons sour cream

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix beef, salsa and bread crumbs. Shape mixture into 12 (4-inch) patties, 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle rounded tablespoon cheese in center of 6 patties, spreading slightly. Top with remaining patties; press edges together firmly to seal.
  • Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 11 to 13 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.
