The original recipe, found on a salad dressing bottle, calls for plain yogurt but I use vanilla yogurt with excellent results.

4 ounces orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 dash salt

Steps:

  • Combine all.
  • Shake it up.
  • Serve.
  • Refrigerate.

Silken tofu is the base of this dressing, creating a punchy sauce that's creamy and silky. Bryant Terry uses it to dress a hearty grain salad.

1/3 cup silken tofu
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons unseasoned rice vinegar
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon coconut palm sugar
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Freshly ground white pepper

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine the tofu, lemon zest, lemon juice, vinegar, mustard, sugar, ginger, garlic, and salt. With the blender running, slowly pour in the oil through the hole in the lid and blend until emulsified. Season with white pepper.

This is a great dressing just like the kind they serve in the Japanese steakhouses.

1 cup olive oil
ΒΌ cup soy sauce
1 lemon, juiced
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons minced fresh ginger root
1 teaspoon prepared Dijon-style mustard
2 teaspoons honey
ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, mustard, honey and pepper. Once these are thoroughly combined, add the oil in a steady stream, whisking constantly. When all of the oil is incorporated into the dressing, pour into a glass jar and chill until serving.
