2 tablespoons sweet vermouth

2 dashes Angostura bitters

¾ cup sweet vermouth

Steps:

  • Combine vermouth and whisky in a cocktail mixing class. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

3 ounces Scotch whisky
1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura bitters
5 or 6 ice cubes
Twist orange or lemon peel

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except the peel in a mixing glass and stir gently to chill as well as dilute the drink. Strain into a cocktail glass, twist the peel over the drink to release the oil and then drop it in. For a weaker drink, reduce the Scotch to 1 1/2 ounces. In some recipes the bitters are omitted or replaced with orange bitters.

50ml scotch whisky
25ml red vermouth
few dashes of angostura bitters
ice
1 cocktail cherry, to garnish

Steps:

  • Put a tumbler in the fridge to chill until cold. Meanwhile, pour the whisky, vermouth and bitters into a mixing glass or jug along with a handful of ice cubes. Stir until the outside of the glass or jug feels very cold. Fill the chilled tumbler with ice, then strain in the cocktail.
  • Twist the strip of orange peel over the drink to express the oils, then discard. Garnish with a cocktail cherry to serve.

The Rob Roy is a classic cocktail consisting primarily of whiskey and vermouth, plus a dash of bitters. For this version, we used smoky Scotch, a combination of sweet and dry vermouth, and just enough maple syrup to round out those warming flavors without making the drink too sweet.

These are another of my favorite cookies and the recipe was given to me by a neighbor many years ago.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 c shortening ( i use 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter
1 1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 c sour milk
2 eggs
3/4 tsp soda
1 3/4 c flour
1 1/2 c quick oats (oatmeal)
1 c raisins
1/2 c nuts ( i use walnuts)

Steps:

  • 1. Turn on oven at 350* cream shortening, brown sugar and eggs.
  • 2. Mix dry ingredients together and add alternating with milk. Add oatmeal, raisins and nuts. Mix well
  • 3. Using an ice cream scoop or spoon drop cookies on cookie sheet pan. Bake for 14 min or until done. Don't over cook.
