Whole Berry Orange Cranberry Sauce image

Got a great deal on fresh Cranberries at Sam's Club and decided to make a variety of recipes using them. This is a regular made from scratch Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce, but I will also post a lower sugar version. Homemade Cranberry Sauce is one of the easiest recipes you can make. This is my version. I decided to enhance the flavor a bit with added Orange Zest and orange Extract. Taste great, and takes less than 15 minutes to make. Try it and see what you think.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2/3 cup(s) orange juice
1/3 cup(s) water
1 cup(s) sugar
3 cup(s) fresh or frozen cranberries pick through for soft or bad ones & remove
2 teaspoon(s) orange extract
1 tablespoon(s) orange zest

Steps:

  • These are most of the ingredients used to make this recipe. Add sugar, orange juice and water to a medium size sauce pan.
  • Place over medium high heat and bring to a boil as you stir, until sugar dissolves.
  • When liquid begins to boil, add the fresh or frozen cranberries & orange zest to sauce pan, then stir.
  • Cook for 10 minutes until cranberries begin to burst, and liquid begins to thicken & become like a gelatin. Remove from heat, add both extracts then stir, mixture will thicken even more as it begins to cool down..
  • NOTE: IF YOU PREFER TO HAVE A CRANBERRY SAUCE INSTEAD OF THE WHOLE BERRY VARIETY, PUT MIXTURE THROUGH A SIEVE , BY PUSHING WITH THE BACK OF A SPOON AND RESERVE WHAT COMES THROUGH THE SIEVE.
