Veggie Okazu image

Simple recipe that kids will eat. Personally I think it's kind of bland. Filling stick to your ribs type of meal. You could vary the vegetables as long as you keep them in very small pieces.

1 lb ground beef
1 lb green beans, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
1/2 lb broccoli floret, tops no stem pieces
1 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
5 cups cooked rice

Steps:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly brown; drain excess fat.
  • Stir in green beans, broccoli and about 1 cup water. Cover and cook until beans and broccoli are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Mix sugar and soy sauce together until sugar is dissolved. Pour over ground beef and mix well. Cook uncovered for 5 minutes.
  • Serve over hot cooked rice.
