Turkey Nuggets image

A different way to serve your turkey on Thanksgiving Day. The recipe works just as well with chicken nuggets.

2 lb turkey nuggets
1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
1 tsp tony chachere's creole seasoning
2 c buttermilk
1/4 tsp paprika
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp maple syrup
1 c plain flour
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 c peanut oil
1 Tbsp sea salt
1/3 c wesson canola oil
2 clove garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp accent
2 Tbsp peppercorns, crushed

Steps:

  • 1. Cut turkey strips into one inch pieces.
  • 2. Combine buttermilk, canola oil, peppercorns, garlic cloves, poultry seasoning, Tony's, accent, sea salt, maple syrup, and paprika into a freezer bag. Squish everything around. Place Turkey strips in freezer bag and marinate overnight.
  • 3. Sift dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, together in a shallow bowl.
  • 4. Drain excess marinade off the turkey in a colander. Dip in the flour mixture. Heat peanut oil to 350 degrees. Place floured turkey strips in the hot oil and fry 4 - 5 minutes until they are golden brown.
