Tomato Basil Sauce image

This is a recipe I got from a foodie friend named Elisha. I tried it about 2 years ago and have used it ever since! Its the best marinara sauce I've ever tried! And its so quick and easy to make! I added my photo!

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 Tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
4 shallots-chopped finely
2 cloves garlic-chopped finely
1- 14 oz. can(s) tomatoes- i use plum, peeled
1 tsp sugar
8 fresh basil leaves-shredded
salt & pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. heat the oil in a heavy-bottom pan.
  • 2. add the shallots, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes,til softened
  • 3. add all the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  • 4. add the tomatoes, juice and all, and break them up with wooden spoon.
  • 5. stir in the sugar and season to taste with the salt and pepper.
  • 6. bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, until thickened.
  • 7. stir in the basil leaves and simmer about 10 more minutes. Then serve and enjoy!
