Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/3 c sugar
1/4 c plus 2 tablespoons water
1/4 c plus 2 tablespoons orange juice
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 pkg ( 12 ounce ) fresh cranberries
zest of an orange ( optional )

Steps:

  • 1. In a large saucepan, add sugar, orange juice, water and spices; cook until sugar dissolves and comes to a rolling boil. About 3 minutes. Rinse berries and pick out the bad ones. Add the cranberries to the boiling syrup. Continue boiling just until the cranberries begin to crack, about 2 - 3 minutes. Do not overcook. Remove from heat and stir in the zest. Cool at room temperature. Store in container with lid, until ready to serve.
