Texas Hash-Completely Different image

I have no clue why we called it Texas Hash but this simple and inexpensive recipe is something my family always cooks for our ultimate "comfort food." It's hardy and great on a college budget; also it's super easy and quick. My sister and mother argue a little bit on the preparation; my mom refuses to add milk and butter, while my sister swears by it. I've tried it both ways and can't really tell the difference. I usually make it without because I hardly ever keep milk in the house.
