This is a tasty marinade that you can adapt to your own taste. More or less garlic, more or less ginger. The wings come out flavorful and crispy!

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 c brown sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp fresh garlic, minced
1 1/2 Tbsp gresh ginger, grated or finely minced
1/2 c soy sauce
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil
3-4 lb chicken wings, tips cut off
2 Tbsp sesame seeds
sesame seeds, for garnish
thinly sliced green onions, for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Put the first four ingredients in a small saucepan. Add 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil and whisk until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and set aside to cool a little. Add the sesame oil.
  • 2. Put the chicken wings in a large ziploc bag and add the marinade. Zip the bag and massage the marinade into the wings to coat completely. Refrigerate for at 1-4 hours, massaging occasionally.
  • 3. Remove the wings from the bag and sprinkle with the 2 tablespoons sesame seeds. Place the marinade in a saucepan and bring it to a boil for a full minute. Set aside.
  • 4. Grill the wings over medium heat, turning and basting with the cooked marinade, until they're done. This will take about 15-17 minutes.
  • 5. When done, remove to a serving platter and sprinkle with a few more sesame seeds and the sliced green onion tops.
